Just a thought, cause i get almost as much enjoyment making those dumbasses look like....well, dumbasses as i do from serious racing...

and who knows maybe if we make enough of them realize that wrong wheel drive is just not the answer, they will convert back from the dark side. And please, if for nothing else do it for our health....all that neon and decals, and awful paint is ruining my eyesight

as long as your talkin about TRUE ricers i agree man..but dont bash all imports/FWD vehicles man. YES i drive a Z, but only for about a month now

before that i was driving a 2000 celica, lowered, rims, undercars neons, short shifter, intake, etc. and a bunch of other junk. modding a domestic car is a MUCH different scene than the import modding scene hell it is VERY possible to get alot of imports running 10's or lower. when people put useless crap on ther cars though and done the wrong way, THEN it pisses me off, but i got much respect for alot of imports.

hell i could say the same thing about domestic drvers, i ALWAYS had domestics speeding up to me on the highay or in town trying to pick a cat fight with me when i had the celica(pointless cause were talkin 2 completely different kinds of cars here)


even if you got these people running 15's or higher at NED, as posted above, at least their not on the streets doin it, AND theyre there just to have a good time like we are. wed & fri are street nights after all ANYONE can go

it bothers me alot when someone feels superior just because of the car they drive or how fast it goes. i respect ALL car enthusiasts, whether they drive a corvette, or a civic, if they enjoy modding their car, GREAT...i definately dont agree with alot of stuff people do to their rides..just personal opinion, but stuff like big fat aluminum wings and decals or stickers of stuff they dont even have on their car is just pointless and "ricey".

the import scene is a total 180 from the domestic, but we all have that one thing in common...WE LOVE OUR CARS!!

the answer is yes, at about 3 times the cost of making a rwd car with a v-8 doing it, the motor isnt going to last very long, and all the cars that you see that run 10s(imports) like on the nopi national circuit and what have you are dedicated race cars. not street cars at all. you can easily build a 10 second rwd domestic that has a full interior and runs on pump gas.

Obviously you have never been to new england where the import scene is prolific (more than half) and the fastest one that there is runs 12's the next closest is in the high 13's and it gets slower from there

I don't know where that rant came from. The way i see it is everyone does there own thing and what they like. As long as they aren't wasteing your money who cares. If they like it and makes them happy let them go for it. Just do your own thing. Hateing on others for what they like is the whole problem with the world this day in age. If they aren't hurting you let them be happy and look foolish. Personally i think they are dumb but that is for them to figure out. Do what you gotta do to be happy without hurting others.

i don't understand why poeple fel the need to bash on others. so they like slower cars it is not about ho fast you can go it is about takeing something you start with and makeing it all that much better faster and to what you want.

its not the imports or import racing or anything that pisses me off, its the attitude that some of those people have. Its the retard with that keeps running 16 sec passes but will not be coninced that his bone stock miata isnt capable of 11's.....its because "i didnt try hard enough" or "my tires suck" etc. Those people chap my *** lol.

the thing is that 99% of the people at NED (import people i mean) are of that ricer mentality, i cant even converse with those people. that one old dude with the older eclipse that runs 12's is a pretty smart guy. once again im sorry....

i dont think i captured my intent with starting this thread, its not that i want to nuke all imports and remove them from the planet.....its the **** with hot shot, "my car is a top fuel dragster because it has decals, neon and a wing " attitude ...those are the import weenies.....it just boggles my mind that these people are so misguided and cant be convinced of anything else.....anyone got any ideas on that?

and you know what....you got the right idea about "import weenies" that make ridiculous exuses for why their car runs the times it does. with my celica i ran a 15.5@91.86 as my BEST time, and i know it wouldnt get any better(specially with a bigger wing, HAHAHAHAHA)

but as far as NED goes...im in the same boat, ive seen alot of people who think theyre hot shots, when seriously all they have is an aftermarket wing and decals, and even me being an import driver at the time had trouble communicating with alot of people there because of this "hots shot" attitude

but ive also seen alot of domestics wioth the same attitude because they ARE a faster car ans shove it in some people faces, BUT i did race an SS once which ran a 12.9 i believe it was, and after the race we just talked for like 15 min and i got a "you may drive a slow import, not my style, but you know your stuff and i respect that" comment from the guy, which is the mentality i wish everyone had there(unrealistic, but good to think about)

so yah..what does everyone else think about the mentality of some people at eping, domestic and import im cureious to know as well..good topic for discussion

my attitude has always been of gratitude that im lucky to have the knowledge that i have and the parts that i have. and when some 16 yr old kid with a 2.8l v6 87 camaro that looks like satan puked on it comes to ask me stuff, i try to help them or teach them anyway i can...cause without people like that when i started out i wouldnt be able to do what i do today

Another solution is to not go up there Wed or Friday nights.That's why I run on the weekends

 

Normally I don't reply to really old posts. But damn, this couldn't be further from the truth.

My own car has run a 12.52@112mph. I have a video of my car racing at NED running a 12.54@109.23mph with a 1.72 60-ft time on street tires.

The fastest import I have seen run at NED was a 10.3@130mph Mitsubishi Starion that my friend owns.

There are a handfull (4 or 5) of 11 second Eclipses and Talons that race at NED on street nights. The fastest one runs 11.35@125mph. He lives just a couple miles from the track. It is red and he races there often. Perhaps you have seen him race.
