window switch ignorance

I'm contemplating N2O on my M6. I've read a little about using a window switch and have a vague idea of what it is and does.

I'm hoping someone will describe them in some detail, give an idea of what it takes to add one to a basic wet system on my LS1 and perhaps quote some prices.

thanks

In it's simplest form, a window switch is basically a tach with a power switch.

You set it for the on-rpm and off-rpm and it monitors the RPM of the engine, and at the proper speed, it turns on and then off at the upper one.

For example, mine was set to on at 2800 and off at 5800 so it would spray starting at 2800 rpm and stop at 5800.

You typically use the window switch in conjuction with a FPSS and a WOT switch, so there are multiple layers of protection. Like the fuel pressure must be above the FPSS setpoint, you must be at WOT, and the RPM must be inside the operating "window".

Prices range anywhere from $100 to over $300 for the super sweet Harris Speed Works.

MSD, B&M, NX, NOS (I think...), and several other companies make them.

I am getting ready to buy one from Nitrous Outlet since theirs has a built in TPS so it's like a two-fer-1 deal. It is only $130 and you get a throttle Position sensor switch built in for free.

Try the supporting Nitro vendor sites. They got good prices and offer fant-abulous customer support.
