Using wideband O2 for solenoid shut off.
I read this post in the computer/diagnostics forum and was wondering if you could convert this to shut down the solenoids in a lean condition.
Wideband O2 link Would this work or by the time the O2's see the lean condition is it too late already?? How hard would this be to do?? I already have an NOS 5176 kit but haven't hooked it up yet. The more safety equipment the better, I figure. CanadianZ |
Im sure you could wire it up to work. But what you have to realize, is that it is only reading an Average A/F ratio of that BANK on the motor. When something goes wrong with nitrous, its usually 1 or 2 cylinders that go lean, or detonate. So in all reality, the O2 sensors wont really help you. If you look at even the fasted N2O users/racers, they still look at the plugs to see how the kit is tuned/running. And I mean EVERY plug, not just 1 or 2. Each cylinder will be different wether you are running a direct port, or a single nozzle/plate system.

I understand what you are saying but if one cylinder is running lean would the wideband O2 catch it before any major damage would result. I know running N2O is a risk anyways, but the more saftey devices you have the better.
I guess it would be difficult for the O2 to pick up an injector lock-up. More thoughts and comments welcome!! CanadianZ |
