Re: tr-6 Plug gap?

whats the up or down side to different gap sizes. im told with a nitrous engine you want to tighten up the gap on your plugs, and input/reasons to why i want a tighter gap would be much appreciated

Re: tr-6 Plug gap?

with anything under 150 shot don't worry about retarding the timing. and gap at .35 on a tr6.

Re: tr-6 Plug gap?

I'd retard the timing also.

If you want to have some fun cut the sidewires back on the TR6's to the edge of the centerwire, that will unshroud the spark with the .035" gap. Want even more fun, index the plugs. I'd have to look if they should point toward the int or exhaust, supposed to be another 5-7 hp (reliable source). I don't do this one, to much work.

I think the smaller gap is to prevent spark blow out, but I run the stock opti and have never had a problem, so who's to say. I'm squeezing almost 200.

Aditionally, I swithed my big car over to an MSD 7AL2 from an Accell super coil and never saw a difference. So again, who knows?

Re: tr-6 Plug gap?

so it matters how the plug faces? What exactly do you mean? So the spark faces a certain way. The open side or the closed side? What is a TR6 plug? I need some better plugs so what you recommend.

Re: tr-6 Plug gap?

Depends on the engine, but yes, indexing the plugs can make more power. It would be the open end. It's customary to have the open end pointing toward either the intake valve or the exhaust valve.

A TR6 is just a couple steps colder plug for the LT1.

I'm all stock so I can't recommend a plug with all your mods. I'm sure someone will. You're probably ready for a colder plug than stock.

Re: tr-6 Plug gap?

Not hard for me with my headers to install so is it INTAKE or EXHAUST??? I have gotten 2 answers from both. Was told it was Intake because that's where the air/fuel comes in. http://www.bullittarchive.com/Mainte...ingsparkplugs/
