TC and NX are my next mods...need suggestions plz

Going to do a TC and an NX wet kit set for a 50 shot to start then maybe a 75 but that's about it. I will have to see if I start breaking crap. Anyway, I am still on my stock TC and was wondering how much nitrous plays into the selection. The car is a driver. It only see that strip about 2-3 times a year and that's just for fun. I am planning on spending about $700 or so an a TC and $1000 on the NX kit along with a Digital 6, and some other safety upgrades. I don't want to go over 3000 stall. What STR or other options should I look at. Do I need a "nitrous converter"? Not sure what that means though.

The goal is to finally beat my buddies '03 Z06 in the quarter. It's completely stock and he waxes my butt now. Thanks for the suggestions.

POORMAN,
A Stall will be great for getting out of the hole. However the bigger you go it will take some from the top end.A stall will normaly stall higher on nitrous than it does motor.I ran a 3200 stall in my 94 Z and loved it.If you want a Quilty stall call Goebel Racing Transmissions 254-875-2045.He builds my stalls and trannys. He will be more than happy just to answer questions a put you in the right path.
Now if you do more racing from a roll you may look into a cam instead of the converter.Of course you will not be able to run a hole lot of cam with out a converter but you can pick up more mid range and top end power. As for just sticking with a 75 shot.LOL Well we all said that when we first started. If you need some advice give me a call 1-866-648-7637.

Thxs for the info. I didn't know about the stall hurting me from a roll. That's how we always race because from a stop we are both so nervous about losing that we just about run into each other sliding all over the place. We grew up together so the stakes are high. We normal start at a 30 roll and still slide some.

What I really need is something that prevents my rpm from dropping so much after each shift during WOT. That's the biggy. I cann't compete with a 6 speed because of this. I was told in another thread that a high stall would help this to some extent.. I want to at least keep it above 5k on the 2-3 shift. I don't know if that's possible though. Whenever my car shifts, he pulls me the most because my rpm drops to about 4000 rpm and it takes forever for it whined back up. By then; he is gone. Victory is getting close though and he can feel it. He was talking to me about LT headers and a catback for his car a few weeks ago. If he starts modding that thing I am so screwed. Money wins though.

The cam idea is out. I am one of those "wish I went bigger" people. My car has 73k miles and I don't want to change cams again. Too much fear after hearing all the horror stories of higher milage LT1 cam changes. That's why I firgured an NX kit was my only option.
A cam would only give me about 15 more hp and it looks like a nitrous kit would be easier to install. At least not as messy. I had grease in my skin for a week after I did my last cam change.

Now im not saying it will hurt you from a roll. The larger the stall you run it takes of the more it takes from the top end.
Now as for keeping the RPMs up Nitrous is deffintly the best way to go.You may also look into putting some gears in the car. However I dont think a converter is going to get you what you are looking for.
