thats my question. if i dont need to, id like to avoid it however i might go all out on the Mallory 685 since it has the window switch and everything right there.
i know some say 100 wet shot on an LT1 is fine but also some say for every 50hp pull 2 degrees. ill be running all safety items as well as colder plugs, so timing retarding a must or just a good idea or not really necesary? thanks

I have never pulled timing on my LT1. I have gone as high as 175. Just make sure you have good gas.

I would pull timing as a precaution. You can always scan your runs on the bottle and see how much knock you are getting and start adding timing back in increments.

Another vote for racefuel and full timing. I have sprayed 200HP with zero timing pulled and a mix of 5galls C12/ 2-3gall of 93 and no problems. Now when I step it up to 300HP I will pull 6-8degrees for safety. Later Clint

BTW even on a 100 shot I was getting knock retard, so I bought a mallory 685 box, pulled timing, and I haven't seen any knock retard since.
