Nitrous in the Desert
There are lots of threads dealing with heating your bottle to maintain a constant N2O pressure, but there are only a limited number (containing mixed messages) dealing with the use of nitrous in warm climates. The fact that the NHRA requires a blow down tube to safely vent in the case of to much pressure got me thinking about related safety questions. So my question is, how do you safely store, transport, and use N2O in the desert (or other hot places) where the temperatures are above 100 and in vehicle temps can be 150?
Thanks.
Thanks.

A heat sink won't cool the bottle if it's already at ambient temperature. In fact, it's more likely to transfer heat INTO the bottle and bring it UP to ambient.
There is a "Fire & Ice" setup that one of the nitrous companies sells... I forget which one. Do a google search or something.

Re: Nitrous in the Desert
I've read about the "fire and ice" product (anybody use that and what do you think of it?), but I was also wondering how people dealt with bottles in their car (like on your way to the track) or garage in hot climates.
Re: Nitrous in the Desert
I have been to some serious desert areas such as 29 Palms cali and Yuma AZ. And I really think the only thing you can do is remove your bottle from the car and store it in a cooler place. Only place it in the car when your gonna be driving. The NX Fire and Ice does use peltier plate technology to cool the bottle as well as heat it. But it has limited authority on the cooling side. I dont think it would remotely keep up to some of those desert conditions. Its brutal out in some of those areas!!!
