Nitrous Crossroads.

Hey Guys.
I've been surfing this site for awhile, and finally signed up. I am currently trying to mod my high milage lt1. The motor has about 85k miles. So far, I have free mods and boltons, but recently am seriously considering to purchase Crower Rods, JE Pistons, and Callies 4bolt Main Caps. I know I have to address the drivetrain and the fuel system, but I'll do that when I know what may capabilities are. My goal is to run a mid-low 10 sec timeslip and a high 120- low 130 mph with nitrous. Do you guys believe my motor has the capabilites to make enough power to run that kind of E.Ts?

I would have to say that anything is possible. I know of a few people myself included that have hit high 11's with bolt ons and sparay. I would say if you are a rich or fairly rich man you can start buying alot of things. You will probably need a 383 for tens though

Seeing how you are looking into rebuilding it,of course it could. Just get good forged parts and have fun.

Thanks for the help guys. By the way wasn't there a guy that ran something like 300 shot on a fairly stock internal lt1? I just ordered ARE stage 2 Heads/Cam package and probably going to call my buddy soon to order rods and pistons. Lets see what happens.:)

BUMP.

George Debski runs a fairly large shot on a stock bottom end,BUT he also has an absolute KILLER fuel system to pull it off with.

How Much?

this is incorrect. it's all relavent to mow much motor he has. if he's running low 11s NA, 100-150 shot would prolly put him there.

what was that guy with the red TA in the last issue of HOT ROD?? he was running low 10s with a 150 shot blowing the tire away. he had alot of motor and a good set up. yes, i DID read he is building another motor to run a 300 shot, but he was also expecting that to put him in the low 9s.

if you build a bad-ass motor, you wont need as much juice. if you build a mild motor, you will need more. simple as that...

Thanks for the advice Jon. Did the guy have STOCK crank or was it stroker? I did a search and found out that Jason Warren ran a 300-350shot on a STOCK CRANK:alert: I am pretty sure that my combo will be able to handle a petite 200-250shot.:D That should atleast put me close to 10.5s. What do you guys think?

his motor was a 355 with all forged bottom end, including crank. i believe his current motor would be more than capable of a much bigger shot, just by looking at his set up. and for all i know, he could just be "freshening up" his current motor before putting the bigger shot on. it just says in the article, "The fresh engine he's building now will be infused with a 300 shot." so who knows?

the guys name is Matt Swindle btw. i almost went into convulsions when i saw the article 'cause his car is identical to mine save for mines a Z and ive got pro stars.

its seeing cars like that, that give me the motivation to get my act together and keep on with my car.

if you're reading this Matt, awsome ride and keep it up!!!
