LT1 Nitrous question

Ok well im new to the nitrous thing but was looking into spraying my bolt on LT1 car. I was looking for recomendations on what system to go with, resons why, and places to get it from. Also I know i can just buy a kit and throw it on and that i will also need cooler plugs, window switch, fuel presssure switch, wot switch, and an msd ignition box for the rev limiter. My question is which ignition box, what plugs, and where to purchase the other things from. Finally what guages should i run with the nitrous install. I was thinking bottle pressure and fuel pressure but are these two good to run and is there another i should use also?

Re: LT1 Nitrous question

I recommend NX...they have the best solenoids, and the overall quality is excellent. There are several vendors on here that sell NX kits....

I have an MSD Digital 6 and MSD Digital Window Switch, but if I had to do it again, I'd get a Mallory 685, since it has a window switch built in. Plugs, use Autolite 104s or NGK TR6s. You can get the ignition from jegs...

I'm not running any gauges, just a pressure gauge on the bottle.

Re: LT1 Nitrous question

I run nitrous and fuel pressure gauges on the pillar, as well as a wideband gauge on the pillar. The wideband is INDESPENSIBLE for tuning!

I also have a Mallory 685 and love it.

I'm running NOS solenoids currently, but plan to upgrade to NX solenoids when it comes time to replace mine.

I'm still running the TR55 plugs, but I've tightened up the gap a little. I tried Autolite 104's and ran into idle problems, the car missed all the time at idle, but that was before the ignition box, so it might run better with them now.

I'm going to give some TR-6's a shot here soon though and see what happens.

Re: LT1 Nitrous question

I saw that ZEX makes an LT1 kit that includes everything? Part #82018. I have a rebuilt motor with about 20K on it.....is nitrous REALLY as hard on your engine as everyone says? Is ZEX good or should I go NOS? Thanks---

if you open the zex box you will see NX stuff.weather you buy NX or ZEX make sure its a wet system.

Oh damn bro, thanks alot!!! The one I listed above is a DRY system...what are the cons to that!?---

Honestly most will say on an lt1 wet is the only way to go. Its safer for sure, and if you arn't building specifically for it and know what you are doing.... dry is just too dangerous for me.

Sorry to currect you. But THe ZEX box does not have the same stuff inside as NX parts.
They both use two different solenoid manafactures.

Wet is the way to go. As of right now, I'm running the Nitrous Works plate, but I'm gonna switch to some bigger NX noids and Dave's Plate.

The best part of a wet system is you basically don't have to worry about the injectors picking up the slack. You don't have to do AS MUCH tuning with a wet system

I recommend NOS Dry System #5176. You can't argue with the number of runs I've made in the last 10 years and the times my car turns.
