I hit the button for the first time yesterday (also have some tuning q's)

I have been working on my car for the last few wks and I finally go to see the payout. I just finished putting in the last break-in miles on my new custom clutch, and my buddy arrived at my house with 3 filled bottles (1 for each of us, plus a spare for whoever needed it).

Did all the pre-checks to make sure the system was working, then headed out to a deserted country road and armed the system, not really knowing what to expect. The power was awesome!! (for the guys who have fast cars, bear with me.. I've only owned a bolt on LT1 so this was fast to me :)
With r-compound road race tires and stock 3.42 gearing, Ive never been able to break the tires loose from a 2nd gear roll-on before. I went WOT at 3000 rpm (window switch set to come on at 3500 rpm) and the car started accelerating on the motor with the tires fully loaded, so I was surprised when the back end broke loose and sent me onto the other lane once the n20 kicked in at 60 kph!!! I love it!

Tuning questions:
This is my current set up:
-nitrous works plate kit - jetted at 125hp
-mallory 685 - 3 degrees pulled while on the spray
-autolite 104 - gapped at .045"
-94 octane

The car felt nice and smooth with no audible detonation in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear. Should I add back timing? Play around with the fuel jets? I didnt have a chance to hook up my lap top to see if im getting any knock retard b/c the battery on it is dead. Im also going to pull the plugs tonight to see what they look like.

I would say get on the dyno and check your air fuel. If its not pinging just leave the timing alone, 3 degrees while on spray isn't enough to hurt your power, and may save you on a hot day or something.

+1 on the A/F's. you definitly want to check them out and may be able to make more power if you find the sweet spot. Also, make sure your bottle pressure is in that 950psi+ range. Any lower and you'll be throwing away potential power also.

I looked at the plugs yesterday and they look great. I was worried about the front two cylinders, b/c some ppl have reported that the tb plate is too close to the intake for equal distribution.

Thanks for the advice.. I should book some dyno time soon. Lets say A/F is too rich - Would I swap in a smaller fuel jet in this instance?

Yep.. i have a pressure regulated bottle warmer set up to maintain 1000 psi of pressure.

Yep, to rich go to a smaller jet, too lean go to a bigger fuel jet.

With most "kits" they are jetted rich for factory. If you have alot of mods I would be more worried about being too lean.

With just long tubes on a 150 shot with recommended jets I was running @ 14.0 afr, which is way to lean for n20 esp on stock pistons. Stock no longer :)

3 bottles holy **** what did yall planing on driving across country on N2O

my last setup with a 100 wet shot i could make 50 1/8th miles passes on a single 10lb bottle

it's fun ain't it

50 1/8 mile passes!!! that is encouraging!! I was under the impression I would only get maybe 8-10 1/4 mile passes on the 125 shot.

Well, the first 3 bottles are for tuning, then fill them up again before we hit the track next week. And yes, it is very fun :) Its all I have been able to think about the last two days.

I've never heard of anyone actually having this problem unless they are spraying over 200, and even then it is still few and far between.
