engine prep?

what kinda work would i have to do before hooking up lets say a 50 shot? would it be worth it?
i want my engine to hold up... i don't want problems.
now of course i'm not gonna be using the NOS daily... just for when i get myself in trouble.

really? that's ALL i would have to do?

even for a completely STOCK engine with like 100K miles?!

i believe the 50 shot will be good. i just want that little extra boost in case i need it, you know? and if i would go with maybe the 100 shot, i'm sure i'd have to beef up the engine in some way... which i really don't have much money right now to do that.

so if i could hook up the 50 shot without doing engine mods other than not using platinum plugs, i will do it... just as long as it's not gonna do anything to the engine to mess it up!

I ran a 130 shot on a 145k mile 305 in my 91 Trans Am. All i did was make sure it had good wires, fresh plugs, and a new fuel pump.

Car took it with ease.

really? hmmm, well if that's the case then i guess i might as well go with a 100 shot of NOS...

but it's just that i feel as though i should be doing some type of engine work to beef it up a little bit, so that it will hold up, you know? i believe what you guys are telling me, but it just doesn't seem right to me to hook NOS up without any type of engine work.(other than making sure i have good plugs and wires)

***********************************************

well can anyone help me find a nice NOS kit for a decent price?!

haha, well first step is to stop calling nitrous NOS, NOS = nitrous oxide systems. I'd get a NX wet kit for your car running a 100 wet shot. Get tr6 plugs, a window switch, a aftermarket ignition and you'd be good. Just don't run lean and your good to go, you could get a FPSS if u want to help with that, a fuel system upgrade is not needed for a 100 shot. Spray from 3k-5k rpm's to be on the safe side. And go read up on nitrous, from the manufacturers and other sites. The reasons engines blow up is becuase of ppl that don't know what they are doiing. Good luck

I have a dual stage NX wet kit and i still call it NAWZZZZZZ! Who cares?

And the REAL reason engines blow up is due to detonation which is caused by ignorance and sometimes stupidity as mentioned above.

Also with a 100 shot you can spray anywhere between 1500 RPMs to 6000 RPMs. I used a 175 NOS dry kit on my stock LT1 and i sprayed 20 bottles thru it with no trouble at all. And I sprayed from about 2000 rpms to 6200 RPMs. Whenever I had traction the bottle was on! Just make sure you got the fuel supply to back the Nitrous and all will be just fine.

1500rpm's with a 100 shot, ok there. Have fun, thats alot of cylinder pressure, UNNEEDED at that low anyway on a stock block........ No wonder why u call it nawzz

This guy wants a safe descent setup, lets try and tell him the RIGHT way to use a window switch, shall we?? Thanks

so lemme get this right...

ALL i'm gonna need to hook up a NX 100 shot wet kit to my STOCK LG4 engine is:
1. TR6? plugs... maybe aftermarket wires too?
2. some type of aftermarket ignition (suggestions?)
3. window switch (what is that? haha)
4. FPSS (help! what is FPSS?)

and I DO NOT need any type of fuel system upgrade?!?

and i should use the 100 shot between 3K and 5K RPMS?

anything else i should know?!?

For plugs you could also try Autolite 104's gapped at say .039

Not sure you need an ignition box quite yet.

Window switch to activate and deactivate the nitrous at particular rpms such as 3000 and 5500. This should be used along with a microswitch(WOT activation).

And a Fuel Pressure Safety Switch in case your fuel pump craps out or just isn't up to the task.

anything else i should know?!?
Yup, alot more, do some more homework. If done correctly nitrous oxide is a reliable power adder.

Why even buy Nitrous if your only going to use it between 3000-5000 RPM ? Stop being a baby and being scared of the stuff. Spray it hard from 2000-6000 RPM. If its set up right you wont hurt anything. Like I said before I sprayed a 175 shot on my stock motor between 2000 RPM and 6200 RPM and had no problems 2 years and 20 something bottles later.

HAWK: I still call it NAWZ cuz im not afraid of it and I love to **** off people like you that think your "Correct" for calling it Nitrous.
Oh and by the way, I hate Fast and the Furious , and I hate ricers. but I still call it NAWZ! And stop trying to scare the NOOB away from nitrous. 3k-5k is worthless. thats like a whole 2 seconds worth?? whats the point.

well TriPinTaZ, i rather be safe then sorry bro. i mean we are talking about 2 different engines too. LT1 vs. LG4, and i'm sure my engine has a little more wear and tearing seeing that it is almost as old as me!

I dont see a big problem with spray at 2k-2500rpm as long as you are WOT.

As far as spraying a LG4 to 6k? that aint gonna happen, unless valve float is your idea of fun
You can use the NGK or Autolite plugs, basically go with whatever 1's are easier to get locally.
Plug wires might be a good idea,if the 1's on the car are OLD or cracked.

Some of you guys need to relax, this guy is looking for help,no need to get bitchy about it and hijack the guys thread.
