Dyno tuning nitrous, how much time?

Anyone have any experiences, with how much time it might take to dyno tune for nitrous? Just trying to get a ballpark figure on how much dyno time (money) this might take. Thanks

It will all depend on the size shot you are wanting to run and how far off the A/F is.

if you are only tuning for 100-150 and the A/F is O.K. you should be able to do it is 4-5 pulls...each HP change or A/F adjustment will take an additional pull

NA, 50, 100, 150....I always reccomend working up to the max shot...this will let you know if there is an issue before becoming a major problem.

Thanks for the guick reply Ray. I'm going to have them tune your Plate system with the 685 box for about a 125 shot. Shooting for 500rwhp total.

125 put me to the 500 mark and the recommended jets were just a little lean. I think I went to my next fuel jet (3 bigger??) and it was about right on. I did na - 100 - 125 - 150

150 I only had the suggested jets and it leaned out on me more than I liked, called it a day. I trashed a lifter after that and never sprayed it again.

Yeah, stock 30k shortblock. Hoping for the best, but not counting on it, you know how that goes.

Depends what you are trying to accomplish on the dyno. Lots of cars we get don't run right in the first place and need various sorts of repair before testing. If your car is ready to go it shouldn't take more than 4-5 pulls to get some useful info. Figure two hours in that scenario. Obviously, if you want the last hp out of it the whole process will be prolonged. For example - do you want to try different plug gaps, change timing in 1 degree intervals, etc? For that kind of testing, you have to be sure the engine is at the same temp, correct for changes in the air, etc. because you are looking for 2-4hp changes. But you ought to be able to get the fuel and timing pretty close in two hours.

This car lacks nothing that I know of besides the colder plugs, which I have. If the car is apart for something such as the H/C swap, (2k ago) things like the water pump. timing chain, wires, opti, etc. were replaced, even though they were low mileage items.
This Nitro Daves plate kit has all the bells and whistles, plus a 685 box as I mentioned. The fuel pump has been upgraded and the filter recently replaced.
On the dyno, I'm just looking for a nice safe tune that gives me a 125wrhp addition to what I have already. At most, I'll have them set it up for three different shots, 75 100, and 125. Looking to spray from 3400 to 6000 without spraying through the shifts.
Thanks for the info provided so far, it is appreciated. Rick
