I want to know if all nitrous oxide is the same. Reason for my asking is a friend of mine ownes a Hospital supply company and he has a massive supply of nitrous oxide in large tanks. Is this the same grade as what we get at our local speed shop. He has offered to fill my tank but I want to be sure first.

 

as far as I know the only diff is that the non-medical grade has something added to it to keep dumbasses from huffing it. But im not 100% on this....

 

Take a look at the side of an NOS bottle. It should say something like contains 100 ppm sulfur dioxide. Keeps the sniffers at bay, as mentioned.

The medical grade is pure.

I would also think the medical bottles are sterile. Make sure you don't contaminate a bottle released to the doctor.

 

yup, they just add sulfer dioxide like the others said to keep people from abusing it.
