Re: All Installed

I'm gathering parts for the same setup you have there. I already have the Mallory 685 and was planning to put it in the glove box too. Would you be willing to give some tips on what it takes to get the Mallory installed and hooked up from there? Thanks...

First of all, thanks! Here's a few starters:

What wiring do I need to run through the firewall and can I use that boot behind the passenger side knee bolster that carries the PCM wiring inside the car to also pass the Mallory wires into the engine compartment?

Did you hard mount the Mallory into the glove box or is it just sitting there?

Re: All Installed

How much heat does that mallory box make? I would be worried about it getting to hot.

Ive read a few different post on this. Think of it this way...how much More heat would it get inside of the engine bay? I am trying to find a way to mount a computer type fan inside of the back of the glove box to keep it cool

Re: All Installed

I have mine in the engine bay, and it is cool to the touch. It all depends on where you located it. I have mine on the front support near my cold air intake. It is fairly shielded from the radiant heat coming from the motor and has good airflow in that location.

Good point also. I like mine in the glove box though because i can change the settings if need be without pulling over and going under the hood.

I ran out the 4 that need to go to the ignition coil, the purple(window switch) and the yellow(spark retard) all out into the engine bay. Im pretty sure thats all that got ran out as my brother did the mallory while I did the nitrous. And yes i ran them through the hole behind the pcm. I also hard mounted the mallory into the glove box. I drilled holes in the top of the glove box so i could get a drill down to the back holes and just used those and not the front two.

Im also not sure what year of Z you have but i would recommend getting the plug and play harness through MSD to integrate the mallory into the coil.
Its MSD-8876 for up to 95 and MSD-8877 for cars 96+ I do belive

Good enough, thanks!

I do have the MSD 8876 harness and will go about hooking things up now that I have an idea of what works.
