383 high compression... nitrous?

I am about to build a 383 w/ an Eagle 4340 forged crank, Eagle 6-inch 4340 H-beam rods, and Wiseco flat-top 2618 forged pistons. The assembly has been internally balanced, and is ready to go.
The block is freshly machined LT1 block and here's what's done to it
- Hot tanked
- Decked .005 in the hole
- Bored .030 over
- Honed
- Align bored and honed with Pro-Gram four-bolt caps
- Clearanced for a 3.75-inch crank

12:1 compression ratio

how much nitrous can I run in this? any?

Sounds like your thinking N2o is like running a blower or turbo. But in retrospect Nitrous loves compression. Too be honest it all depends on how fast you wanna go. Start off with a 100 shot and work your way up.

see thats what I have been reading... when I first learned about nitrous I thought people wanted low compression to run it?

100 shot i think is first

You can get away with more than a 100 shot especially if you are running forged internals. If it was me and I was in your shoes, I would make sure I have a supporting fuel system and run a 200 shot to start and wouldn't look back. Heck, there are stock shortblock guys running that much nitrous with little/no problems. Just be smart about it and don't lack on the safety equipment: WOT switch, window switch, etc.

I broke the main webs out of a 010 GM block with a 375 shot. It was a 13-1 388cu.in sbc witha 252@.050 duration cam. I run a dart lil M now an spray 350 no trouble with a 272deg@.50 heavy use, multi-stage nitrous cam, runs low 9s@150+. I think the lil M would take a lot more but ya don't know till its too late, thats the bad part, what I spray may blow your hood off at the 60 ft marker???? Work your way up an read those plugs!!!!!!! every combo is very differant, the cam grind has a lot to do with your motors ability to make power with differant amounts of nitrous.

you can get away with running a considerable amount of nitrous as long as you pull timing accordingly, and on a high compression motor getting the timing correct is more important than on a stock motor since you're margin of error has been significantly decreased. it's not difficult, just don't get greedy with the timing.

its easier to make more power with less of a shot with low compression motors cuz most of the time u are running some sort of FI (blower or turbo), it decreases the air temp and makes alot more power
