For the Headers...Do it yourself!!!! Dont be a sissy! It really isn't that hard. (and no I will not help you, I have put 40 hours into my LT's and am headered out!!)

As for the cam-- this is where it gets tricky. You could put it in yourself but it is a PITA!!. You could take it somewhere but where? I (personally) would not go to Pro-Dyno, just because of how they did Drew SS's cam install. I have heard of good thgings about Arizona Speed and Marine, but they are quite expensive. If it were me, I would probably talk to the guys at Xtreme Corvettes. They seem to do pretty good work, but I have no idea what they would charge??

Hope this helps.

Brian

What was wrong with Drew's cam install over there?

Check out www.azautomasters.com Call there and ask for Mike. They work pretty much only on F-Bodies and Corvettes and their labor rates are pretty reasonable. I'm pretty sure they do custom programming too. Tell him Mark with the Hugger Orange Z sent you. http://web.camaross.com/bb/biggrin.gif

You don't need pistons for a total of 450rwhp IMO.....worry more about valvetrain, and maybe bearings...but that should be it.

I'd like to know too...

I thought that Wayne did a good job, but there were some issues with it. First, Drew dropped his car off on Mon, at about 7 am. He was told that it should be done by wed, or thursday. Drew calls up on thursday, and they say it is still not done. We figure OK, we will give them a bit more time. We call again on Monday, still not done. When we call back on wed, the cam isn't in yet, but they say that the Fuel Pressure regulator, and subframe connectores are in. So we decide to take a ride down there and see the progress. When we get there, we see the car just sitting there, no Fuel pressure reg, no subframes, no cam. When we get there, they started working on it, and I believe it was finished in a day or two. But that whole time, Drew was paying for a rental car.
Also, drew's car would not idle because Pro Dyno didn't drill that small hole into the TB blade. That was something that I had to do.

So, I would personally not bring my car there, but that is because I feel that I typically can do better work on my car than anybody else can. But Pro Dyno does do good work, and Chris and Wayne are both really nice and know what they are talking about, I just didn't like the way that they handled drews car, but just my opinion.

You shouldn't have had to drill a hole, it should already have been there. If anything you could have just enlarged it a tiny bit, or just bumped up the set screw on the manual idle setting a bit to make it stabilize quicker. That is just what happens when you cam an LS1, the idle is screwy, not much you can do about it. Mine still is too choppy when it first starts and then smooths out. That sucks about it taking so long to get done though... thats why you always bring shops the parts to install and don't rely on anybody but yourself to get them.

Nic- I stand corrected. You are right, the hole is there, we just needed to drill it up 2 sizes to get it to idle.
