Thumbs up Airfest 2004 this weekend

Anyone else going? I'll be there sunday with my friends.

Come on out to March ARB to see the Thunderbirds, and a bunch of other demos. If you're there on sunday we could catch up.

I can't make it I'll be workin as usual damn war but just to throw it out there the Point Mugu Airshow is suppose to happen this year. 1st time since the crash of the F-4 that killed both airmen.

BTW: that was ruled as pilot error

Really? That sure as hell looked like a mechanical to me when I saw the video.

But yeah, it's great to start getting our airshows back. March hasn't hosted an airshow since the WTC attacks. We're finally back in the game.

Yeah thats what everyone thought. Maybe a bird strike or something mechanical failed. But later it was ruled pilot error because the pilot was not going fast enough in the turn then tried to kick in afterburners when he realized he was in trouble. I heard that he was not familiar with the plane (QF-4). I'm sure if he had a mechanical problem he would have had warning lights and he should have pulled away from the formation and out of the turn but he only did that as a result of the formation leaving him and his bird going down.

On another side note they had a B-17 Flying Fortress and a B-24 Liberator at Camarillo Airport the past 3 days and you could get a flight in them though I think it cost like $400. B-17 or B-24? yeah worth the $400. C-130 not worth it hahaha unlesss it was a gunship with live ammo blasting away hahahha.

Also we have come to a close on the F-14 they are going away. The test flight squadron now have 2 F-18's and they hardly have flown them...lol.

Last time I was on your flight line they still had a couple A-6Es. So I guess it's been a while, eh?

Back in those days the Tomcats were still around and kicking with no sign of letting up. It'll be sad to see them go.

And hey, I loved my C-130 ride out of Channel Island.

I've flown on "Sentimental Journey" before out here. Was absolutely a kickass experience, and a very cool birthday present.

Was that the one you had there? I saw it fly over Hemet today, it was going into the pattern to land at March. I paused my stereo...... Thought I heard the nice roar of some old school radial engines.... Sure enough, look out my sunroof and there goes a B-17.

It's too bad you can't come out. I'd love to meet up with a fellow aviation nut. Most people have no idea what I'm talking about or why I'm getting so excited talking about the stuff.

Yeah Take the 60 East to the 215 South, where you'll drive for about 2 minutes and take the Cactus Exit.

You're going

They still are for now they've had the Playboy Bunny back on the tail of the blackbird. I guess the tailhook thing has died down now because nobody has complained about it. They still roar right over my building every day pullin G's. I'll miss that!! Nothing like seeing those wings swept with full afterburners on especially 2 14's at the same time!!!

Man, I love the old warbirds.

I went to one of the shows at March back in '94 when I lived in LA. That would be awesome to go up in a B-17.

If it wasn't such a hike for a day, I'd drive down on Sunday.

Okay, I lied.... I couldn't stand waiting until tomorrow. I was off, so about 11am I hit the road for March.

I'll still be there tomorrow anyway. Going in at 8am tomorrow, and introducing a few friends to the wonderful world of loud and fast aircraft. They've never been.

Anyway, I bought a 128mb card for my digital... It was nice to be able to max out the resolution and still get 200 pics. Here are a few that I decided to crop and put up for any of you that want to take a look:

I've got a pic of that B-17... You can see "Sentimental Journey" in one of the pics on the page.
