Tire Question, ET Streets

After my last trip to Milan about two weeks ago I have decided to invest in a set of better tires. I am running 315/35/17 Nitto drags but still can't hook like I want. They do okay but not for the power my new setup is giving me. I ran a 12.2 @ 110mph with a 1.75 60' My 60' actually got worse after adding cam, heads and computer retune. Some is do to more spinning off the line with the added power. I am getting ready to go to a 3800 stall in the spring and will need a better grip off the line.

I am looking at a pair of 16 rims and want to know what I should get to go on them. I have heard that ET streets will give me a much better lauch then my 315 Nitto Drags?

Can I get some help on what I should put on the 16" rims? What brand ET streets, Tubes or no Tubes?

Are ET Streets that much better? Can I still run my 17" rims up front with a pair of 16" on the back?

Thanks,

Bill,

I plan on running the 26"x11.5"x16" ET Streets on some Pontiac 5 star rims next year with my 17" rims in the front. Rod442 is using this same setup and has cut some 1.53 60' times.

I don't see why not.

It actually helps having a 17 up front cause it makes the back lower and the weight transfer is better! And look at getting 1.50 60' times! try to run them without tubes, tubes slow you down!

Doesn't the rolling resistance of those enormous front tires hold you back at the top end? I would think it's a wash. But I'd also run tubes for peace of mind, so what do I know

just make sure and pump them up to about 45psi in front and you'll be fine. although some skinnies would prolly make a MPH or two more at the big end as someone else sugg.. but at the same time, the softer and lower press. rear tires will slow you down too. (as far as MPH goes)

Quicker e.t ,lower mph! And skinnies up front cut down on the rolling resistence!
