Shops in the Louisville, S.Indiana area

Anyone know of any decent shops in the area that have experience with 4th Gens to have a motor freshened up and a possible cam upgrade.

Why do you want it "freshed up"?

Many a perfectly good LT1 has been screwed up by blind assumption of stock being bad or 150k miles being high wear.

It's looking like I got a blown a head gasket and it's got 163K on it, So I'm thinking about a somewhat stock rebuild with cam and headers. Just above my pay grade to tear one apart and I don't have 3-5K to throw At it. I might consider looking for a low mileage one to get it up and running and put my old one and the engine stand and build it up over time.

Re: Shops in the Louisville, S.Indiana area

hey man, i'm from Corydon, IN about 30 mins from louisville. I just had my heads and block done by Todd at Shively Speed. He just moved into a new building and is still in the process of getting everything set up at the new location, but he can get your motor in and out quick. His number is 502-447-8536.

Also for tuning purposes there is G.R.E.A.D tuning in Corydon, they've done a few really nice lt1's around town.

Another shop is Worrall Carburation & Machine they are in Clarksville, IN 812-282-0984. They've done a few of my friends engines, but generally they'll take a while to get it done.

Hope this helps

Cool thanks, Worrall did some work on my Mustang carb before. They do good work didn't know how they would be with an LT1. Been hearing a lot about Gread just didn't know if they were building motors or just Tuning and Dyno. They got a Dyno day coming up or I just missed it.(EDIT: Missed it, it was Oct,22)

The blown head gasket is a good reason to have a look around in there. At that mileage though the bores are almost certainly just fine.
If you have to buy parts like pistons be aware cheap gen 1 stuff is a step backwards from stock. The stock motor was pretty good and to genuinely improve upon it not cheap.

Gotcha, yeah from everywhere I read stay away from the cheap stuff. That's why I wanted to find someone respected/Know how to get the ball rolling.

off topic, but did you by chance buy your car from a cop in southern in? reason i ask is my buddy sold those same type of rims to a cop and he put them on his car which looked exactly like yours, then he put it up for sale a few weeks later.

Yeah, and I think he sold it to me knowing it had a blown head gasket. My fault for not having it checked out.

Yeah, bought it knowing it needed a clutch and a "Overflow tank". It's pretty solid considering mileage. Doors close tight etc.
