Shipping charges??

Shipping charges??
Just orderd my self some goodies from thunder racing (MSD wires, LS1 tech calnder and a billet shift ****) and it was allmost $17 to ship the stuff which only was 1.7 pouunds. At work we ship boots out and its only about $8. For some reason $17 seems a little much to me. Any one know if that normal?
