LOL. Thats GREAT.

If I could ever talk my uncle in to letting me have them, my grandfather built two dune-buggies out of classic VWs back in the day and my uncle has them sitting in a garage at his lake-front home that he never really visits. They never get any use, and the only thing they need to get going is a tune up and the shifter-cable needs to be a little longer - when he did the conversion he had to cut the cable but he cut them both just a little too short --- long enough to work but they will become disconnected and it will die -- leaving it on top of the dunes until you get it hooked back up. haha.

Re: Sand Dunes This Weekend!

I was there 2 weeks ago. The entire beach was practically flooded. The area where all the drag racing usually takes place was a lake... some guy was even trying to waterski in it behind a jeep. Ill be there many more times this summer, right now im in the process of crossing over to the world of 250... which should make things a little more interesting when comparing it to my 125 days

if i had the suspension set up for my weight on the 250 right now, i might think about coming this weekend. But I found out the hard way that riding it with the suspension set up for a 250 lb rider when I way 160 is not a good idea

Re: Sand Dunes This Weekend!

i highly doubt that 3ft deep lake will have dried up in two weeks. Trust me, there wasnt any room to drag race when I was there, which was very disapointing

Re: Sand Dunes This Weekend!

if your lucky the beach migh be somewhat dried up, but it will be rough from all the water puddles all over the place. I wish I hadnt forgot my camera, id show you pics of what the place looked like. There were hundreds of puddles all spaced about 3 feet apart, and all about a foot deep. Some guys on quads tried racing in a somewhat dryer, smoother area of the beach. One guy who was on a blaster lost it, hit a puddle, and stopped on the other side of it in a cloud of steam. Then this big artic cat he was racing plowed into him at about 15-20 mph and launched the guy right off the thing. it bent the rear axle of the blaster pretty good, and pretty much completely relocated his silencer. All the rain we got this summer really messed the place up.

Re: Sand Dunes This Weekend!

We should be heading up there this weekend as well a few buddies and I. I'm bringing the jeep cherokee. My buddy has a killer CJ that will be tearing it up with a 305 or something not quite sure. Hopefully it doesn't break again... If so I'll be towing him off. Also my other buddy is bringing either quads and a dirtbike or his TJ. I'll have my sea-doo boat probably parking it along the beach mess around in that. It was sweet when the beach was flooded last time I went week after memorial day I soaked everyone standing along the beach as I drove 25 through it kicking up a huge tidal wave off the sides of my jeep haha.

If the west side of the state got rain like we did in SE MI and the northern LP of MI did this monday, it will should be wet enough to do that

Re: Sand Dunes This Weekend!

I'll be at the West Michigan Sand Dragway for the East Meets West Shootout running Mod in an N/A Buggy A cousin will be running Pro Comp in a dragster, his wife will be running Pro Index in a buggy , a cousin possibly running Pro ATV, and I believe we have 2 young ones running Pee Wee.

Hopefully I'll get out into the dunes also but mainly this weekend is all about the track

The Villemure name will be heard all day See ya out there!

I just finished doing that on the forks, but the rear setup has a beefier spring... the dampening is probably stock, or at least close. On a side note, I couldnt resist taking it for a ride to test it out. Holy hell that thing rips Wheelies took skill on my 125... I can climb up on the gas tank of this thing and it still lifts up on command. Im gonna try and swap the springs out tomorrow and pack the suspension bushings (or whatever they are) with grease. Im in love with this thing... i might just show up anyway

Ive gotta check that place out sometime. Ive seen the pictures at the sands restaurant, looks like it would be a good place to take a video camera
