Possibly selling 94' Z28, $3500

I go back to school on Monday and didn't get nearly as much done as I had hoped. I rebuilt an engine for my jeep but didn't get to my camaro. I am posting it for sale because it will be sitting in my barn until May, if I don't sell it by then I will rebuild the motor and keep it but my girlfriend has pressured me into putting it up for sale until I have more time, she says the car takes too much time away from her. I have only had the car for 2 months, I paid $3750 for it and the only thing I have done is put two tires on it, had it aligned and I have two new door handles for it.
It is a 1994 Camaro Z28, automatic, 3.23 rear end with 142k miles it has a rebuilt tranny that was rebuilt 30k ago I just put new springs in the valve body and it shifts great. The interior is great except the drivers seat should have new nylon under the rails that it slides on its just a little loose, the steering column feels a little loose to me but I am real picky about everything. The body is teal with a black top (no t-tops) the front bumper cover has a crack and the corner edge of the hood is slightly dented and the fender has a 2 inch crack at the very corner nothing major, the rear quarter panel has a few little dings in it. Underneath the car is perfect, the suspension and brakes are great. It has low oil pressure and before I would drive it a lot I would pull the oil pan and put new bearings and oil pump. It doesn't burn any oil and runs and drives perfect except for the low oil pressure. That is every little thing that I have found wrong on the car. It has power windows, locks, drivers seat, remote starter, rear window defogger, everything works. Like I said I am not in a hurry to sell the car but I won't have time to make it like new until spring. It would make a great winter project with little work if anyone has some time. $3500 for it sounds reasonable to me. I don't have any pics right now but I will soon.

DONT DO IT. If she is being like that now, she's only gonna get worse if you give in. Screw that.

I'm sorry, but I have to agree. Don't ever sell anything because someone else wants you to sell it. The classic story I always tell is about how my Mom sold her '69 corvette. ( What a car it'd be now!!) This was when I was between 1 and 2 years old, and my brother was a baby. Mom's mom pursuaded her to sell it because "it's not a family car and you need something more practical..." I wasn't very old but I remember riding in it. It was loud. She says that every time she sees me and my brother having fun with our cars, she's sorry she sold it.

Also, RoadRage makes a point about your GF. She seems to have some control and/or needy-ness issues. Any girl who wants you around 24/7 has problems. What does she want you to be, a mindless zombie with no interests of your own outside of her? How boring would that be!! You need to reassure her fears that the car is more important to you than she is, and I'd also remind her what fun she had drag racing your 01. Don't dump her because she's needy, but yes please work on it in a positive way with her.

thats a good price, I got my '94 Formula with the same # of miles for $3000, and that was a steal. This is too, I wanted a camaro more, so I would have definately bought this if I din't just get mine a couple months ago. You should definately be able to get that out of it. Good luck.

I agree with the others from above. No matter how much your girl means to you don't sell the car because she is pressuring you.I had a Very nice 86 T/A that I picked up from a guy for $300 bucks with a bad starter.I had it cloned out to look like a GTA it was a nice ride for the $1000 bucks I had tied up into it. My girl talked me into selling it cause we were going to get married and I already had my Vert so I sold it for $2000 doubled my money but I wish I would have kept it.Well not only did the car hit the road but the bitch did too.Miss the car alot more than her..... The really sad part was she ALMOST had me talked into selling my Vert too.God I am glad I was'nt totally brainwashed.I will never ever sell another vehicle again for a woman. Just my .02.

Good Luck

James

Thanks guys, my girlfriends reasoning is that she has to move further away from me because I refused to move in with her and she has school and work and I have a lot of school and homework and work so she wants us to be able to "spend some quality time together" I was thinking of taking an automotive class at WCC for fun and working on my car there, the only thing is that I have this auto dissorder that everything has to be perfect and once I tear one thing apart I end up taking everything apart to make it perfect, thats why I spend so much time on my cars.
After everyones comments I am weighing my options
girlfriend of 1.5 years OR camaro which brings meaning to life?
As far as investments go I think I put a lot more time and money into my girlfriend than the camaro.

Um, tell me again why you can't just keep the car in storage until you have time to work on it? No reason why you can't have the car and the girl...

Sorry if we offended you, I know I for one didn't know the whole situation with you and your girl...

No offense taken. I am keeping my girlfriend, she just knows that I can't stand having a car and not working on it and with us being so busy and living 30 minutes apart she doesn't want to come over and watch me work on a car which is what I usually do.

When my wife and I got married I had 5 cars and 4 were muscle cars. Now when she says something about me working on or spending money on the two I have I tell her to remember when we got married. She knew going in I was into muscle cars so I tell her to live with it. Women have come and gone over the years. They are like cars there is always a replacement. The only problem with that is once you are married it cost you alot more to upgrade.

Dude, you're just like me!
A car will never leave you, insult you, laugh at you, b!tch at you, nag, need you to "get more in touch with your emotions," or any of that crap. AND since your girlfriend takes more time and money, keep the car. Remember, you don't want to be
