POLL: If Mid Mich Motorplex offered a 10 sec Index....

So, there is some chatter about opening up a 10 second index class at Mid Michigan this year. At this point this is purely a investigative prod to see what people think. So at the moment there is a Super Street 9 second index and a Pro Street class as well. Thought being we might see some nice heads up racing if we had a 10 sec group. I know I would make some changes very quickly to play in a 10 second index.

There are no class rules yet. I've asked for a provision that allows OEM manual transmissions as the PS and SS classes require automatics only with a torque convertor. Debate going on about a minimum weight and power adder penalty weight. However nothing is clear yet and this is purely investigative.

Would you participate in a 10 second index race format?
Do you feel you would be able to participate more than once, as in try to make it competitive rather than just a now and then appearance (I'm asking this to determine if the class would have some longevity)?

What do you guys think?

So, there is a thread going on over the Go Fast Zone about this. I don't think that we will see a regular fielding of the 10, 11 and 12 indexes of the GFZ shootout. We might see one race this year like that (outside of the NMCA). The issue is fielding cars regularly to compete. We want to put a show on for the fans and it takes more than 4 racers to do it. This means that we would need a 10 or 12 car field on a regular basis for it to work out (just my guess).

The best thing we think that we can do is accomodate a 10 second class because it's unlikely that the 10 second cars will not likely participate regularly in the the Street Tire Shootouts. Also, it takes a lot more to run Super Street (9.000) and the fielding is a bit tight. Odds of a 9.90 car winning in Super Street is slim considering some of the cars could run the high 8's.

If you are SERIOUS about trying to field in a 10.0 index class jump over to the Go Fast Zone and voice your opinion. Link is above.

As far as rules go, the class will be very slim on rules. Probably no real weight limits or restrictions. Basically if you can run a 10 there should be no reason to bitch about any of the setups. It's not a Pro Street class, so competition should be good. Less beuracracy means more cars. If this class comes to fruitition I will do what it takes to step up to run a 10 with everyone (read that as spend cash).

I'd be game for it, as long as I can get the 10 i am hoping for. All depends on how well Axledoc from the Gofastzone.com does my motor. He has it now, and is working on a full rebuildup. I believe with the shot I want to run I can make 10's. It would be a great time, and a reason for me to leave the house on a regular basis this summer

Sounds good Steve, I'll be sure to post over there. I did introduce myself to Jason at last years event and asked him to keep this site advised for the 2003 INDEXED<HEADSUP>STREETTIRE< STUFF....THANK YOU!

And this go's out to guys like Chad who feel they may not stand a chance running in a 10 second indexed class with a car that will run in the tens but is short of a 10.000 pass.
Its all done on the line, most guys I've seen run pro tree have a hard time cutting a good light and right off the bat you can pick up .200 to .500 in ET due to a nap the driver in the other lane handed you! Now your 10.20ish...10.50ish car can hand the other guy a pass to the "Dead Wood" in the bleachers .
Just start getting some reaction time practice on a .500 pro tree.
Smokeumup.com has one on line or get ya a small hand held unit and it will be the best spent money you've threw at your hobby.
....Oh just don't be the guy sitting on the "dead wood" of course

It's hopefully going to be a run what you brung 10.0 index class. Little to no rules, all makes/models/motors/power adders will be allowed if everything comes together.
