Paging IrocSS85
Hi Chris,
My new car has the following code: Voltage signal from shift solenoid "B" indicates a "Stuck On" condition. Do you know any place I could take this to besides the dealership? They want $450 to fix this. I am not sure if this is a good price. Code "P0757" Thanks, Bill |

Re: Paging IrocSS85
If you want Chris's phone number just email me and I'll give it to you, I'm going to see him tonight to borrow his helmet so I'll tell him that you were looking for him. As far as $450 that sounds awfully high to me, it isn't too hard to change the selonoids on a 4L60E, I would also inspect the valve body to make sure there isn't a flow problem with the fluid or someone drilled the wrong hole out when installing a shift kit or something but to just change the selonoid it shouldn't cost much. Make sure whoever does it puts synthetic trans fluid in it after they fix it, synthetic fluids are great if you race your car.

Re: Paging IrocSS85
hey bill, just got back online. any luck yet with the car? I dont know anyone offhand with trans exp. besides the guy at work. but he doesnt know anything about the perf. stuff for transmissions. you should email the fella that sold you the car, and find out from him EXACTLY what was done to the transmission. if he doesnt know try to get the number for the person/business that did the work and find out from them. did you get a receipt with the car for the trans work? this just may be an issue caused by the aftermarket parts of modifications to the trans valves or valveplate. what is the car doin besides just showing the check eng. light? does it still drive good? is it slipping or actin up?

chris I hope you have been doing well? The only thing I know of with the tranny was a 2800 stall, shift kit and tranny cooler. Up until last Friday when I drove it into work it felt very strong. Shifted hard as hell and no other issues I could tell. Right now it feels like there is no power to the car. I am not sure if the car goes into limp mode with this problem? I will take the car in tomorrow morning and have them test the Solenoid and take a look at everything. Do you know where I could find info on what shift solenoid "B" does? And what happens if it the Voltage from the shift solenoid indicates a stuck on condition? As soon as I get it fixed I'll find out when you will be around and stop by. Take Care, Bill |

chris So, when are we going to the tracK? I will get my perm. controls on the car in two weeks. When I come over you will have to test the car out and see what you think. We should figure out agood night for a small group of people to get together and hang out for a bit. Take Care, Bill |

I was reasearching the P0757 code on the net. I found a bunch of stuff. A few people said just clearing the code can correct the problem. Is there a way for me to test that? Can I clear a code without any special tools? Thanks, Bill |
Re: Paging IrocSS85
you can take it to any dealership and they can clear it for you, or try stoping by an autozone. they advertise being able to look up codes for free and clear them. its very poss. that the pc is goin into a backup mode and softenin up the shifts and makein them happen early and not kickin into passing gear in an attempt to "save" the trans. if clearing the code makes it drive better again, then Im sure thats what is happening. its Very poss. the shift kit is fooling the pc into thinkin there is a problem with that circuit due to more fluid being delivered then it expects, or less fluid/press. thats the reason why alot of dealership techs wont want to look at your car for that is cause there's no way of determining if thats the case besides goin through all the trouble of eliminating all the poss.s of the things that can cause that code on a normal basis. again, I wish I knew more about it so I could look at it for you, but I really dont know anything about the newer elec. controlled transm.s and hardly anything at all about older trans.'s.
besides clearing the codes, what has fixed the other peoples cars with that code? chances are, if it set once, it'll set again. now, if it is just being set due to the mods, and there really isnt a problem, I think the tuners can delete the code and all functions of it to keep the trans from constantly entering the "limp" mode. |
