New dragstrip to open... people are thrying to shut it down!
That monopolizing bastage! The owner of the track I go to isn't very happy that there is a new dragstrip opening up this season and is trying to shut it down!!!
The new drag strip (Ottodrome http://drag.ottodrome.com/) is being built from a circle track. By the end of construction, it will be a motorplex of sorts. A circle track, a drag strip and a road course.
Back in the late 60's they did have 1/8th mile drag racing at ottodrome (formerly Capital City). So they have zoning from wat back when to upgrade the facilities.
Problem is the owner of the other track doesn't like this one bit. He could be catagorized as a dictator when it comes to business. He will charge as much as he can, promise you the world, then stick it to you from behind. I've learned not to deal with him, but he has the only track around.
Now he's trying to shut the project down saying there never was drag racing at Capital City! I for one am to young to remember it, but I allready know 2-3 people that have raced there. The new track needs as much info on the histrory of drag racing in it's past to take it to council so they can get a go ahead and finish the project.
I'd like to find something on the net about it but I'm coming up short.
It just ticks me off the that bastage can't take a little competition.
I'm done for now

Best of luck to the new track!! If they run on different days/nights it shouldn't be much of a problem. Racers race where ever there is a track open that pays decent money.
Tell the dough-head at the old track to raise his purses's if he is worried, BIG MONEY draws the cars, PERIOD!!

That sucks. He's afraid of a little competition huh? I don't see how he could shut it down unless he was in charge of that city or county so I wouldn't worry about it. Its good to have some competiting tracks though and this new one sounds awesome, must have a lot of land to have all that stuff at one motorplex. A road course, drag strip and circle track at one place sounds bad ***. Hopefully the tracks will start competiting with one another and there will be money flying everywhere for racers. But at the same time they should agree on having racing on seperate nights, of course agreeing to certain nights is probably almost impossible by the sound of the guy who hates this new place. Oh well. I hope they build it cause it sounds awesome!
