Need a driveshaft shortened

I have a 3.5" aluminum driveshaft that I need shortened, is there any local places that can do it at a good price?

Just take it to the track, rev it up to about 5K and dump the clutch. Then take a little off one of the two pieces and weld it back together. Problem solved.

Oh wait, you already tried that... ;)

I get all mine done at Precision Drieshaft in Lansing. He does a great job, is very quick and the prices are right.

But that's a bit of a hike for you...

I would just take it to DTS. :)

If you plan on taking that thing to the track with the Street Twin, I would just get a Denny's Nitrous Ready shaft with the billet slip yoke. It will end up being cheaper than having your aluminum one shortened, then breaking it, and then buying a new one.

Hopefully this isn't a weak driveshaft, its supposed to handle 600+ rwhp with a manual trans no problem. Its a 3 1/2" driveshaft, spicer yoke, all spicer U joints (1330).

What type of aluminum? If it's the 6061-T6, it will break trust me I know first hand.

I had a 3 1/2" aluminum (6061-T6) driveshaft with the 1350 rear U-joint from Dynotech Engineering and twisted it like a pop can doing an easy launch at 2500 RPM. Supposedly their Metal Matrix Composite driveshafts are much stronger.

Not sure what type of aluminum, 6061 isnt all that strong in the first place. This driveshaft was made by Visteon as a prototype part for a 2003 cobra... I was told 3/16" walls on it

I second this, I just had some shafts for my 90 Blazer done there

should be fairly cheap to shorten is too, it cost me $135 to get a steel shaft retubed, so, for shortening one, it is all labor, probably be right around $100
