mustang..

there is a reason why the big 3 and many many racing teams use them... Not really mustang specificly but any of the load bearing dynos.

Dynojet is jet an accelerometer (sp?). They measure HP then get torque (kinda). The load bearing ones measure tq then get HP.. this is why the TQ #'s are usually quite a bit lower than a dynojet. And we all know HP is a function of TQ and not the other way around.

Is there a conversion factor to go from the Mustang #'s to Dynojet #'s?

My 98 TA A4 was 285-286 rwhp on mustang dynos at Detroit Speedworks and APE. When the Hot Rod Power Tour rolled into Pontiac a couple years ago, I had it dynoed on a Dynojet and it hit 301 rwhp. Same setup- fuel and everything.

OK this is kind of weird so bear with me.

When Modern Musclecar owned the dyno I put out like 326.

When Speedworks got it, I went down to like 300.

At APE I was right at 320ish.

On the Power Tour I went back up to 330ish.

All runs had the same mods. Go figure

This must be what Dave was talking about with guys having the dynos calibrated wrong. FWIW, Greg tuned mine up to 349.

Greg has since had the dyno re calibrated when they changed load cells..

there was only 1 really good guy at mustang who knew what he was doing...

MMC and APE were pretty close when it came to #'s at the end of the MMC days since we finally got it dialed in right.

It didnt take much to throw it off if there was a large shock of some kind. And then had to be re done. Also it didnt help that mustang had the wrong roller weights in all of their documentation. So when you set it up it was wrong.

I took mine to White Racing. His is a DynoJet. Went 2 times, over a year apart and the numbers were all within like 1, virtually no change.
I am confident that Dan White knows what he is doing and has his stuff set up right. After all, hes been around this scene for a while. My numbers seem just about right for what my car goes.

Yes something happen when they moved the dyno to Detroit Speedworks. I lost about 16RWHP. It went back to normal when I dynoed later.

Actually I was their test car right after the load cell was replaced. Still right at 300.

Maybe Mike was just pumping the numbers? Or maybe Greg doesn't know how to use it right? The Power Tour #'s, and the numbers from right after the load cell change were pretty close together time wise.
