Question Looking to have some custom aluminum pieces made, have no idea where to start...

I got an idea for something that I need to have made out of aluminum. It is nothing too intricate, but I have absolutely no idea where to start looking to have this done. Anyone have any ideas where I could start looking for a company the does custom aluminum fabrication? Anyone know anybody in that business?

Ah...but here is the problem.

I can't deal with any company that will take my idea and run with it, so it has to be a company that does not deal with the public. I am probably out of luck.

There is a guy on this side of the state that does stuff. Dude can build anything out of metal. If you took the idea to him and told you what you wanted, he would make it. And I dont see him as the question asking kinda guy. Just draw it up, he makes it and you pay him. Thats all he is interested in. Kinda a strange dude, but he can fab REAL good. He is making the custom reluctor ring for my th350 swap I am doing. He is making a 17 tooth ring like the M6's have, but the size so it will fit in a th350. That way my speedo reads right when I upload the M6 file. Very trick, and he said no problem when I suggested it. I will get his number tomorrow at work. I will call you when I get it.

There is a guy on Middlebelt in Garden City that has a machine shop in his garage and is a wizard at working with aluminum. His name is Ken Weclansky. He's not commercial, but does some for the paintball public. I would not worry at all about being burned by him, I have had himn do much prototype work for me for production items, and it has always worked out for the best.
his email address is millpro62@aol.com
Tell him Timberwolf sent ya

Jason, If you are concerned about someone taking your idea, do what I do. Send yourself a registered dated letter w/ prints and description of what you have and your are set. Anyone steals it and you take them to court. On a side note I may be able to help you, I don some aluminum fabbing myself. If you like e-mail me and let me know what you have and I'd be glad to see if I can do it for you. swillis@triton.net Dreamer can vouch for me.

Talking

Thanks, guys.

I have to get some measurements and such, might take a while but when it finally gets to the point that I am ready to make a prototype, I will take it from there.

Skip and everyone else, thanks for the advice and offers!
