Livernois closed on sundays!? Retarded.

When the majority of people work mon-fri and work on their cars sat and sun, wouldn't it make sense to be open so when people get impatient and want to buy speed parts they can, but instead have to call summit and order what they want?

It would only make sense for them to be open all weekend, even late night on Fridays-Saturdays. I mean thats when the majority of their customers need parts, right?

EXACTLY! I can't tell you how many late night runs I make to autozone or murrays, but if I could get performance parts late at night on a whim... Hell, they could probably close 2 or 3 days during the week (the stores at least) and be open more on the weekend and do more business. I know summit and jegs are cheaper, but you can usually get them to price match, and for people like me who demand instant gratification (parts) it works out nicely. Closing at 7 during the week and at 5 on saturdays is ridiculous.

The flip side is, if you order from Summit/Jegs before ~2pm, it's usually here the next day with their warehouses so close. I can understand a sense of urgency, but come on. Is racing your day job?

Having worked at Ramchargers before they went belly up, i am glad we wer not open on sundays, as usually there are only a handfule of employees pre store, and it gets ahrd to sell the parts, and not have any days off to actualy go and use your own. I am glad they let the guys have off at least one weekend day to enjoy there own lives. Having worked retail in the past, it always sucked when the store closes at 9pm, and you always had the jagoff roll-in at 8:55 and want to drag his dick and shop for 20 minutes, instead of running in and grabing his hit and leaving. Everybody has a life and famliies, and we wanted to go home too. We had on jerk that we had to actually shut the lights off in the store after like 20 minutes, and his rely was.." i guess that means i should hurry up" so the boss kindly replied...."yes, we closed 20 minutes ago, and all have families at home waiting for us" I mean hell, even after the last customer was rang up, and the doors closed, we still had 20 minutes of paperwork and cleaning to do befor we could go home anyways.

SO not to be a dick, but i guess, no i don't want the perfromance shops open on sundays, or late at night, i know you can't plan a breakage, but let's stop and think, and be considerate of others and there lives.

If you're getting 2 days off per week like everyone else I don't see the problem.

The store should be open 7 days/week. Hire a couple of part timers to split time.

I've been stuck having to wait because livernois hasn't been open and most parts stores don't carry the perf. parts I needed. It does suck.

well, thats all part of the business. either your willing to work the late nights, or alternate a couple late nights per week. and/or 1 weekend day per week. thats how retail stores like sears or aco hardware or whatever do it. not just everyone that works there is there 100% of the time the store is open. I agree it does suck a little for the workers, but if you make more money because of it, would it be soo bad?

Are you serious?

We tried keeping Roseville open on Sundays to see what would happen. The cost of staying open was mutiple times more than they were making to cover expenses. Once you figure what it costs to buy the parts, the shipping to get them, paying employee's, power bills, and all the other over head. It takes something like 15+ k in sales to keep a store open on a sunday. That cost would dramatically go up if you hired more people to cover the extra days and such. You cannot compare this business to others that stay open 7 days a week. When the economy is bad, this business is bad. Grocery store sales never really go down because people NEED food, not everyone NEEDS a ceramic set of headers for a vette on a Sunday.

I hate posts like this because I feel like I have to go on an explain why the hours and days are like they are working at a speed shop. I already work 6 days a week and have almost no free time to do personal **** as it is, what else do you want me to give up so you can buy throttle cable brackers, or a set of spark plugs?

Mike, I know you... So dont take my next line personally, ill give you all the details to why things are why they are in person.

**** anyone who buys from Summit or Jegs when this is how I make a living.

Because I already work close to 60 hours per week and only get one day off as it is.

And we dont make more money. Youd be surprised. One person buying a set of gaskets that we make $2.00 on doesnt cover the thousands it costs to stay open.

I believe in supporting local business.

That being said if local business doesn't support its' customers demands then its not a two way street. I know you guys that work at those places hate not having time for yourselves, but its not you who is to blame.. its the management. They could hire part timers to work on the weekends and have you guys just work M-F. Its all about profits, if they're so concerned about cost effectiveness they should focus on making more profit during the week to compensate for the slight losses on the weekends.

Just my $.02.
