God does anyone ever carry anything for our cars?!
A couple weeks ago I tried finding opti ends and no one had them. Even Ramchargers had to special order them. Today I'm trying to find a new alternator, which I figure is a part thats readily available. My old 93 Grand Am needed a new alternator and did Pep Boys have one? Sure did! But now its for my Camaro does anyone have one? NO! Is there just something wrong that no one can carry a damn LT1 alternator? I really dont think that it would be LT1 specific either which would mean the same alternator works on several different GM cars. Plus Murrays wanted $200 for it and Pep Boys wanted something similar to for a new one. For that price I'm trying to get a chrome one which would be not too much more (if there is such a thing made or available for an LT1).

Triumph, I overlooked that post but I want a new one. I'd rather not deal with rebuilt stuff. Thanks though.

Ever thought about getting your alternator rebuilt? Theres several places in Canton that can rewind alternators.. They can even beef em up if your running a mega stereo system. Might be cheaper then getting another one.
if your not afraid of your alternator just head over to your local alternator parts seller and rebuild it yourself. Usually for less than $30. Then let autozone test it before you install it. Only thing you really need to know is use a paper clip through the hole in back to keep the brushes back until assembled. And don't over tighten stuff either. But if you have to have a new one
go spend your $200+. Keep in mind that chrome is an insulator and heat is probly the most common alternator killer. And are make sure the chrome one is not rebuilt too.

that's because a lot of times reman parts are often junk. hopefully you won't have any problems but if it's a everyday car you might want to look into getting it checked out by someone you trust or carry an extra one in the car. hopefully you won't have any problems.
