First time at track Ubly (need mod advice)
This was my first time running my 2001 T/A Firehawk at the track. Ubly is not as prety but appears to hook much better than Milan. My average times were:
60 ft- 1.93
1/8 - 8.3
1/4 - 12.9
mph 107
My mods are: SLP air lid; offroad y-pipe; cutout; Yank ST3200 2.2str; LS1 edit tune
Now what would be your next mod: Nitto DR's or 3.73 gears (they both would cost the same $) Please help?
Marco

With stock internals, I'd go with the Nittos at this point. 323 gears are pretty well matched to the stock engine with an A4.
After heads and cam, then go with 373's! BTW: Don't overlook the value of LT headers on a stock motor. I picked up 3/10ths' with the LT's and ORP.

From what i've seen that is very true. I was just comparing that first appearance's of both tracks. Ubly's track prep was definitly responsible for better 60 ft times on my buddy's supercharged stang. I was just bumed that they didn't have some type of helmet rental, I had to borrow one from a biker guy. He was pretty cool about it. I was not expecting to hit the 12's for the first time at the track. I guess most agree that the nitto's would be better than the 3.73 gears at this point. I think the gears would be fun for the street, but would make it much harder to launch. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks again
Thanks again
Well gears will help you after you launch obviously, but will also lower your gas milage. So for the most part nitto's are the better mod for right now.

If you already have traction problems, gears will only hurt you!
Nitto drags rule and I suggest a 315 sized tire or maybe just the 275 if you have the 17X9" rims. I had a set(315's) put on my 9.5" rims and they fit nice and they are going to hook like mad! With the 275's and your converter. I would think they can get you into the low 1.8 60 foot time zone at a decent track. Gears will really help too afterwards.
fwiw, look to spend a little less than $400 for a set installed out the door WITH free replacment certifricates($20-30 cheap insurance) from Discount tire.

You'll definitly need Nitto DRs next. Other tractaion assiting mods include subframe connectors and lower control arms for the rear to stiffing up the car and take out any wheel hop you might encounter at launch.
You'll want to consider your plans for the ride height in the future when you look at LT Headers which Mark pointed out do pay off nicely on a stock motor.
Some are OK on lowered cars and some a bit ify (SLP LTs for instance).

I've got a pair of 315x17 Nittos 4sale. First $75 get's them. They dont come with much tread, and as a result they dont have much on them right now, but should allow for a full contact patch to the track. You will def get your $75 worth out of them. Cost almost $200 new, apiece.
You come get them, or I'll meet you as far as the Flint exit on I-75.
