As you guys have noticed, the bumper supports are rocked. They need to come off and I need to takem off. I dont feel safe driviing like that so I'm going to order a Cage.
Can anyone lend me their welding talents for a few hours?
Thanks

So instead of new bumper supports you're just getting a cage?

its MUCH safer than having bumpers. think about itOriginally posted by Killerjello

Trey,
Need to add my $ .02 on this one.
You are right about the bumper supports being there for
energy absorbtion, but by eliminating the core support and
adding a cage you eliminate the chance for the car to
absorb energy and YOUR BODY absorbs any impact energy.
A cage will help stop the passanger compartment from
collapse, but a more ridgid structure means the energy
has to go somewhere. The energy will be transfered right
to you!
I think your effort would be better spent repairing the bumper
support structure, then replace the bumper support. IMHO.

Circle track guys don't have "Just a cage"...They have a tubular car designed for 200 mph wall impact destruction. Lets forget that they spent $50,000 on their rolling chassis and think normally here. Even if you did a 14 point cage, it's not the same. Your in a 3500lb car, a circle track car isn't even near that weight. Yes like others have said, can you magine racking your head off a steel bar in an accident?? I think about it every time I sit in my car and I drive like an old man because of thatOriginally posted by treyZ28

I guess it's cool though. Get a cage, helmet rollbar padding, Hans Device, and maybe a window net if you want the full effect. or just some bumpers that work.
And leave for class early because it's a chore getting in and out of the car
