Lightbulb Debating....

Well..ive been thinking lately...i bought a bike this yr..glad i did..i love it..but with me...im always in for a need for speed. I didnt mess around on the bike..got to know how to ride..and be a responsible driver..knew my limits..and had a great time..Before the yr was over..i took a friends 929 out for a ride..and man i loved it...It was sweet! Well ive been debating lately weather to get a new bike..or try and get a new car..i love my 3rd gen..its in great condition for an 89. Sure theres a few blemishes and such..but a great car. But what i figure is..my bikes a 98 and only has 5700 miles on it..never been dropped or abused. excellent condition..by May i should only have about 2700$ on my loan. I figure i can get 4800$ for my bike..pay the rest of the loan..and drop a nice 2000$ downpayment on a new bike and pull a 7000$ Loan out. For a nice 2002-03 954 RR. If i knew i could sell my car for 2000 maybe even 3000$ id do it..but insurance is another issue. Id be happy with a 94-97 Formula(WS6) if possible. But i think insurance would rape me (20yrs old, No points). SO what do you guys think. Im really leaning towards the bike because it seems more feasible in the finacial status to me. 7000$ loan for a bike or a 9000$ Loan for a car.

I agree with robvas, if I were you I'd go with a 94-97 f-body, bikes suck to drive in rain and you will get a lot more fun out of a f-body, also I think the $7000 bike will depreciate faster than the $9000 f-body. just my $.02 I would stay with an f-body, too many people I know have gotten really hurt on bikes.

Sorry Cory, but I have to agree as well...

Sell the bike, make a few $ and upgrade the car. The ins. wont kill you, and neither will a fast bike

And if you sell the 3rd gen and get a 4th gen all of us 3rd gen guys are going to hold you down and give you a wedgie

well its going to be one or the other..IF i can sell the 3rd gen then id be intersested in a newer car.. I dont wanna sell my bike for a car. Its either keep the curren bike..or get a new one..Keep the current car or TRY to sell it and get a new car..I just know i could sell my bike faster then i could my car.

In the spring it wouldn't be very hard to get $3000 for the car.

I guess if it were my choice I would stay away from payments and invest my money in mods or something.

Jeff (Kandied91z) has a L98 for sale and he'll sell it complete for a real good price.

I really dont wanna mess around with haveing to change everything just yet..i dont even have a place to swap engines..nor the spare ride to drive while its being swapped...but its something id really like to do. Prob better during the winter..but a 350 in the ol Formula sounds great!

Thumbs up

Jeff I emailed a guy about your engine today to see if he wanted it. I will let you know if he does.
Cory I think we may be able to work something out about changing the engine in my garage. You would just need a cherry picker. I have all the tools. Let me know. We have to keep you in a 3rd gen because there are not enough nice ones around.

let me know chris.....

cory i had originally wanted around 1,000 for the complete L98 and the computer minus the harness because i need the harness.

but i plan to keep the computer now as well so i would deduct that as well. honestly i'm pretty open to any reasonable offer and i will part the engine down to as low as just the long block if needed although since yours is tbi you would need the tpi setup.

if your willing to get your hands dirty i'm sure we could pick up an l98 computer an harness rather easily and save you some major expense.

honestly i wouldn't think much more than 1,000 tops to do something like this; but i could be a little off. either way if it's something your interested in feel free to make me an offer. worst i can do is say no; which i doubt i would if it's reasonable.

as far as doing the swap, i know that having the room and tools is difficult; i'm sure that it can be taken care of relatively easy and quite cheap if you would rather let someone else do it for you.

i also have my $1200 exhaust i'm selling for 600 installed.

just let me know what your thinking, i've got enough parts for cheap to rebuild your whole car!
