Confused times
My buddys camaro on the site in my sig. Jasons Iroc, I need some help, with the amount of mods he has, is his time a little off or is it just me. He ran a 13.66 @ 103, but only did it the first run of the day, the rest of his runs were in the 14s. I just dont get it, seems that LT1's with half the mods he has are in the 12's. Let me know.
He runs an Lt4 cam, is this small? I am no Lt1 pro but i think this combo should trap closer to 105 or so. Yes, i agree its too much gear and bad tuning. Ive been saying this for some time....but what would I know.
I think I may be able to help alittle. First the cam is way wrong. He needs to go something like a LPE 219/525 or a CC306.
Second put a air filter housing or a FLP or something on the front of the TB. You are loosing 15 to 20 HP from the heat he is sucking in. The factor airbox works better than what he has there. He can gut the bottom of the airbox. He is sucking in the heat from the rad and loosing more HP than the filter he installed on the front of the TB makes.
Third when he first gets to the track the engine compartment is not heat soaked. This is a common problem with 3rd gens. Either cool the engine between runs or stick a bag of ice on the intake. You could install a cowl hood or at least remove the rubber seal at the rear of the hood. It will release some of the air pressure built up in the engine bay at speed and let some of the hot air out.
Forth the gears are to much for the motor.
The changes from 2 and 3 will pu at least .10 or .20. The right cam will also pu .1 or .2. Check out my website and the mods on my IROC. Also make sure to vote on the car. Hopes that helps.
I have a set of TES headers for sale if anyone is interested I am taking off my IROC..

the old air filter is gone, it only was ont there for a few weeks, he now has the tpi intake with dual ram air from behind the fog lights. he always ices down in between runs, and I think all he really needs to do is take it to a dyno to get it all figured out.
