Canadians buying from usa

I am wondering if any canadian members have bought a car from usa?
I wanted to know the shipping/duty charges on them.

Yeah i did. Ur gunna need to have a Federal safety done which is 208, then if the car has AC thats another 100. Then you need a recall letter, iam pretty sure ur gunna need daytime running lights installed (i had to do it, but just ripped it out afterwards) uhm.. i know theres some other odds an ends. Phone customs they'll tell ya everything.

I emailed customs and i haven't heard anything back from them. I will have to call them now.

Are you serious? I thought there was no duty on cars that are over 15 years old.

i brought an 04 Envoy over here, I had to pay taxes on it... The guys @ the border were cool though, they let me slide only paying one o fthem ( i believe GST), and "gave" me the paperwork to pay the PST, and keep with me stating i am importing the vehicle

You have to let the title sit at the border for a few days so they can check for liens.
