Hey Jeff,

I heard you are in the process of doing the ls1 coil conversion. I recently just had a opti blow up internally during a dyno pass.

I was thinking of going a different route also away from the opti crap and do the ls1 coils or this new kit.

I checked out the Ls1 conversion...still trying to figure out where to place the coils and the dynaspark opti.

Have you heard anything about this new Electromotive system? They say they have a bolt on kit for LT1's.

Hi BigD,
Sorry to hear about your opticrap.
The electromotive stuff came out years ago, had issues and they stop offering it. I was unaware that it was back. Fred, a Cz28 moderator in the advanced section would be the one to talk with about that product.
The LTCC box is way cool...soft hit revlimit, hard hit revlimit, two step, and time retard are all standard features. It will work with factory and aftermarket EFI puters!.
You will need to get 8 coil packs from any ls1 vette, f-body or the 502 bigblock truck motor. The 502 is the only truck motor with coils that will work, do not use any other "LS" engine family coils.
Make your own mount brackets and I'd keep them off the valve covers if you lash valves. I'm mounting my coils for the drivers. side of the engine, right under the abs unit...good room there
On the passenger side its wide open for those coils to be mounted in the same area on the side of the rail above the subframe. Then just remove the plugwires from the opti and put to packs...done with the plug wires.
Bob has a site for the LTCC with good info.
1-888-293-7267 if you wanna talk.
Later, Jeff

Thanks Jeff for the info.

Ya I heard you bought that kit. Only thing I don't like about it is that it still uses the Opti for reference but the spark is better. The coil mounting is going to be a pain to relocate on my engine. Looks like a cool kit and might work a little better. I don't think there is a guarantee that the sensor ring will not fail, but since the spark is comming from elsewhere it might last a little longer.
This probably would have been perfect for me since the part that broke was the rotor and not the wheel. If I combine that with that Dynaspark opti it should be a killer setup, but very expensive. Still considering it. Barry at ARE told me to send him my Opti for warranty so in the mean time I'm looking for more options and trying to figure out a way around the opti all together.

The only one I found so far is this new kit from Electromotive. Just wondering if you heard any news about it.

I called them today and left a message. They say they have a bolt on kit for the LT1/LT4 in the manual on page 4.

Thanks for the info. I might end up going the LTCC way like you did.
