Arrow To ALL you NaySayers... it won't live, it won't live!!

I'm talking my little 7-5/8" rearend. I remember when I first put on BFG Drag Radials. "You're gonna break it"! Then I went to 3.73 gears, "You're gonna break it!" Then I went to 4.10 gears, same thing! Then to MT ET Streets, same thing. Then to 4.56 gears, same thing! AND... finally, to the 10" Hoosier Slicks, You're REALLY gonna break it now!!

Here I am now 7 years after putting stickyer ans stickyer tires on Redbird and the only thing I ever broke was a defective Eaton spider gear!

To all you projectors of doom, I reply:
Na, na-na-naa-na!

Hink its great that the little 10 bolt is still around

Auto cars generally don't shock the drive line the way stick cars do,so our factory 10's live a little longer.

Dave(Rock1501) is still on his stock rear with 3.73's and he has made 100's of 1.6 and 1.7 launches

It kind of gives me hope for mine

Lightbulb

When I start making HUGE power like DaveD I'll start to worry about it, until then all hail my rearend!!!

Best 60' time... 1.55.

Next year when I change back to the 4.10 gears it will be even stronger as I will be putting in a welded-up open carrier in it, a poormans spool!!

Watch for the little rearend that COULD, run some high 10's next year!!

Don't forget there are two forces at work that put stress on the old rearend.

You got the power in the drive shaft and the shear weight supported by the booty.

Hink's little rear has been getting a workout when you combine the two.

The sugar buzz from the left over Halloween Candy made me type that. I am under the influence and there fore not accountable for lame rearend jokes.

Glad to see im not the only one pushing the limits of the "weak" 10 bolt. 1.4 60's and high 10's and its asking for more.

Hugger... I thought I heard you say at M7 that you were still running the little rear. CONGRATS!!

Rick... I just read your sig., most of it looks like lies but I'll ask anyway!! A 422 LS1?? What kind of times do you run?? I didn't get to see ya run at M7 (or maybe I did). Anyway 422 inches of cheek squeezin' power outta put a stain in your panties!!
Tell me more, when your off the candy buzz!

Hiya Hink,

I'm the slowest 422 in the country at the moment. Being the cageless beer getter/school bus has slowed me down from my goal to hit a 11.4 by the end of the season. Actually, I take that back, I'm the slowest 1/4mile 422 since I-75 has had enough workouts that I'm confident I've driven faster than most of the 422s.

My best run to-date is a 1.71 60' at 11.73 and 119.5 mph. I've got some stumbling on the 2-3 shift where the computer wants to pull up to 3.5 KR. So, I play the toe tapping dance to keep the computer happy and get back on it for most runs. I have not had what could be called a completely clean run through. I haven't done the proper debugging yet on the KR but current suspect may be banging in the exhaust given the shift happening and it appears to be happening in the lower part of the power band RPM range.

My best 60' has been 1.585 which was wasted on a 12.slow no cage warning run. The big slicks were a welcome turf graber. Now if I can just figure out the best RPM launch point. I guess the 60' is pretty good for a SY-3500, stock torque arm, stock shocks & springs and half a tank of gas.

So I've got some launch hardware to improve along with a need to get consistent on my launching. I figure if I get this KR gremlin isolated and put in a cage and then I should be able to start putting together a more respectable showing.

Hmmmm..., is it spring time yet????

IMO when you start spraying that car the torque of the nitrous will be hard on that stock rearend.

I have like 200 passes on my Moser 9" with 4.10's and the Tractech locker (31 spline) and it's working great.

I have the 2nd slowest 422ci.

see sig, we think we figured out why (not enuff fuel, needed more converter), so I'll be hopefully taking my 3550 tank to the track on saturday.

Cool

I like my car... put shifter in 3... push pedal to floor... hold until past traps... collect time slip... park car... watch others thrash on their race car.

Sounds like john and rick should have made their LS1's 421's or 423's! 422 seems like a cursed cubic inch!

Mr. Ryan... I enjoy your truck section!! At LS1.com. Just gave the URL to Randy (RRRR). His c3 went 15.5x's and he was runner-up at M7 13.00 and slower.

Rick good luck with the Gremlins and I hope my Nitrous assisited
LT1 can run with your big cube monster next year! I too must do the 6 point thing, but... mine sits right here beside me, for almost 3 years!

HInk (422= )
