Question 85 and under tpi 350 in an 89 gta?

Hi, I need some help. I have an 89 gta that need an engine (had a 350 TPI roller motor in it). I got a line on a very clean (new heads and all) 350 tpi motor (cheap~~). BUT it comes out of a low milage 85 vette. Now I know its NOT a center bolt valve cover and that it probably is not a roller motor. Now will it work in my car?????? What problems might I face?

If you are using the induction system off the 89 then there is no difference. Just the valve covers. I think the 85 cams had a little more lift. I used a 92 block for one of my build ups and it was not a problem. I changed heads, cam and compression. The car ran high 13.8 . I used the same block for another build up and installed LPE Vette heads,Lpe cam and LPE SuperRam and it runs strong.

If that doesn't work out for you, shoot me an email. I might be needing a 350 for a truck I'm looking at.,

I don't think so but just switch the one off your old engine.

That is true on some engines but all you do is drill out those holes on the intake to make the bolts fit. I have done that before and is no big deal. I have my old TPI system hanging on the wall of the garage were I did it. It worked fine didn't leak just went to the SuperRam for more power. If it is a problem let me know and I will trade you intakes. Mine is a 87 tho but again no big deal.

Talking what Ive found so far

Ok I got the engine. It came with the original 85 tpi intake, but the bonehead blocked off the egr holes. (dont know how that would effect the rest of the FI system. So I am thinking of redrilling the middle holes on my old (but better shap) intake. The flywheel off of my old engine does not fit so Ill need to get an old school one. Right now Im getting ready to work on the heads.

You don't need the EGR I removed mine and there is no SES light.
