Thumbs up WILDWOOD, NJ SPRING 2010 (Cruisin the CREST!)

DRIVERS WANTED to amp up the cruising in WILDWOOD,NJ. '09 had the fewest cops I've ever seen. Some looked away when a car did a dry hop. (although its understandable to get a ticket if you do a pro-stock style burnout) Some roads were literally re-paved w rubber!
IT TAKES PEOPLE AND CARS TO MAKE A CRUISE...looking for hotrodders who take some initiative and like the idea of being one of the few who generate some cruisin! Not just F-cars...all machines! We're looking to get the cars to start cruising Wildwood Crest, which is the southern 3rd of the island, AND MUCH MORE SPACIOUS, instead of staying in the congested midtown area. More info coming soon. Be a fellow "founder" of "CRUISIN THE CREST"!
The WILDWOOD shows are awesome, let's bring the cruisin BACK to where it should be. Questions? LETS HEAR YOUR INPUT.
(Approx 3 1/2 hrs from York, Pa....3hrs from Baltimore, Md)

Cool Wildwood cruise spring 2010

The WILDWOOD,NJ show has always been Mother's Day wknd every spring. Addl info will be added as it draws closer. Will be contacting some local businesses in Wildwood CREST for participation, and places to stop/meet. Spread the word to all car people, not just F-cars!...It is YOU who make the cruising what it is. The CREST isn't cruised nearly as much as mid-town, so let's get out there and be the ones to get it going!
For SHOW INFO and PLENTY OF PHOTOS from past shows, go to....thundermoto.com
Great bunch of people.
Note:...Thundermoto is not connected in any way to the cruising,..they put on the great shows...it is individuals complimenting what goes with a good carshow...they CRUISE. (and we the individuals are responsinble for how we drive)

Cool Let's do it!

I've been gettin tired of the OC, Md shows and lookin for something different. Never been to Wildwood, I hear the show's are very cool but the cruisings kinda thin and ends early. Is it true they park the cars on the boards all day, then drive off in the afternoon? That sounds much better than 8am !! I love the idea of being a "pioneer". Sounds like a fun idea, I can maybe get 3 or 4 friends to come. I'm gonna lookup a map and websites of the area, maybe spend 1 night b4 Christmas n get a feel for the street layout. What restaurants/motels do you recommend? How much to enter a car? Please list any other info about this. Thanks!

Wildwood car show info (thundermoto.com)

Yes, they park the show cars on the boardwalk Fri n Sat, then hit the streets around 3pm._ Last fall show in Sept they had a block party for show entrants, afterward they paraded down the Crest for 1st time. It was great! Then most of em went back to the midtown area and lit em up. What we are trying to do is get the hotrods (in the show or just there) to cruise the Crest too, and spread the word to others to do the same. Wildwood is a much wider island than OC, so navigating around traffic is a breeze, many more streets to choose. In the Crest....Pacific Av..and New Jersey Av are double lanes for about 30 blocks...with only a few stop lights...perfect for cruisin!!...At the end of...Pacific Av...where it becomes a single lane rd that connects to...Cape May...there's only salt marsh,no bldgs...perfect for "blowin the carbon out"!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you're going this time of yr to check out the area, some good yr round restaurants are...The Bayview in the Crest,,(right on Sunset Lake)...The Bolero..(in midtown Wildwood)...Owens Pub..and..FlipFlopz ..(North Wildwood)...Ther are others too... As far as motels..(I prefer staying in the Crest or North WW..less commotion)...you'll have too call the chamber for a list of which ones are open yr round...609-729-4000.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are not affiliated with them,...but for info on the car shows,...go to......thundermoto.com...........plenty of pics and info.

Talking Sounds good!

I looked up thundermoto.com, and saw tons of photos from past carshows. I like the skeleton in the pickup bed with a bikini top on his fishing pole. It does look more spacious there than OC. The kickoff party looks fun, it's another carshow within the carshow! And free food for show entrants! And I had no idea that other wknds they have all the top monster trucks on the freakin beach!!!! And motocross too!?! I know where I'll be several wknds next yr.
I saw a few clips of the carshow on youtube, I see what you mean about streets repaved with rubber. We have a while before May, but keep me posted on other info. Thanks!

$60 rooms can't be beat...

You got it! Yes, WWCREST is very spacious for cruising. Many street combos to choose.
Also, if anyone needs info on lodging, feel free to ask. During the show wknd, the Crest has many motels hardly filled, esp the Spring show, with great rooms at great rates! Decent single units for $60 a night are not uncommon. I've stayed in very nice rooms for $80, WHICH WOULD BE A $175 ROOM IN OC! It's not til May, but somthing to think about over the winter.

$60 rooms?

You can't beat that. I did look up some of the motels in the Crest. How's The Crusader? The website looks real nice. But what about it's location as far as being in the action?
So far it looks like no-one else has any input on this but then again it's way early, as you said.

Motels...

I've stayed at The Crusader before, and yes it's a nice place. It's not too far down in the Crest. We'd like to see more of the motels filled farther down the Crest as well. Getting more hotrods (people) down that end will naturally lead to more cruising. Main problem has been people have heard the cruisin stops early, so it became a self-fulfilling prophecy, and it's only a wk or 2 before the way-hyped OC, Md show.

Went last wknd.

I went to Wildwood last wknd, had a good time. Stayed at the Bolero, very nice place. Although the mid-town area was peaceful, I can imagine it bustling in the warmer months. I definately see what you mean about the Crest, sooo much more room with several avenues to pick. Nothing like OC, Md, So much more space. I can picture New Jersey and Pacific Aves in the Crest with hundreds of hotrods cruisin up n down. Hardly any lights, and the one end goes alongside that big lake. I'll do what I can to round a few hotrodders up from the Glen Burnie area for Mother's Day wknd.
