W/E of 27, Etown, 66 Cutlass hit wall @ 155mph
was anyone there to see it.
just saw car today at his shop around corner
seems he snapped a rod at finish line doing 155 and oiled up front tires as result losing control and hitting wall. managed to turn off ignition and all turnoff switches before anything catastrophic happened.
glass is all intact
amazing that a car made in 66 could hold up so well - lost front nose, frame bent 1/4" on passenger side, engine might be fine except for rod that snapped - still remains to be seen.
nice to see all the harnesses and safety equipment worked on a 1966 Cutlass F85.
Joe was back at work Monday morning no problems other than mark on shoulder where harness dug in.
He had already ordered the fiberglass front end prior to smack up. If all goes well he'll be back in the saddle in 6-8 weeks.
I told him I wouldn't mind doing that if I could get a guarantee that I would walk away intact without a scratch like he did.
