Thinking of selling it all...
Thinking of selling it all...
...and yes, I'm talking about the car and all my parts. The car has sat apart for three years. Since we've moved to this house in August 2005, I've not touched it. I barely have time to wipe my a$$ since my daughter's been born two years ago. W/ the house projects and general maintenance I see no time in my future the way things are to work on it. Plus, our second is due in October. My wife and I are both considering changing jobs and a relocation might be on tap. If we didn't move I can't work on it this year due to existing projects. 2009 will probably not happen due to the new family addition. If we move I don't want to tow it to another house. Then the cycle starts all over of new house projects. I honestly don't see any time for a project car in my future.
I constantly feel like there is a massive weight on my shoulders of "having to get the car together". In reality, I'm not sure it ever will. I think I'd rather sell it, all my parts and forget about such a massive project until my kids are older. I could sure use the space. It would also allow me to tackle other projects and enjoy other less expensive hobbies w/o feeling guilty for not working on the car.
I know this will come as a shock to some folks, but I've been thinking about it for a little while. I've been trying to deny it, but I think it's probably the best decision. Don't get me wrong, I love the car and am emotionally attached to it. I don't want to sell it, but I think I should.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll go back and forth on this for quite some time before making a decision.
Later,
Steve.

Steve, I know the feeling I've been there and done that before myself. Here is what I did, I sold the wildly modified car and I bought a easy v6 project car and put it together very cheaply using a stock lt1. The car is a blast, my wife and young children like it. If the car sits it doesn't hurt my feelings but it is nice going out to the garage and hitting the key to hear some v8 music.
Send me a complete listing of the car and parts, a friend of mine is looking now that he rode in mine.
Tom

Tell me what you're looking for. It might be easier.
I've been down this road before. I had the car back together stock and couldn't bring myself to sell it. I don't want to sell it, but don't foresee any time to put it together.
I got home tonight and my two year old yelled, "Daddy!!!" and that pretty much summed up to me what my priority is.
Give me a day or two to compile the parts.

I am in Coopersburg, Pa 18036. The car is a '95TA black w/ ~17,8xx miles on it t-tops and leather interior. It is less motor / trans, AC and cruise control. Wheels are stock.
Parts:
All tubular suspension less upper a-arms
New QA1 shocks for all four corners
New D1 ProCharger w/ pullies
New 383 stroker built for boost
New 9" center section from Moser w/ Detroit locker and 3.89 gears
New 35 spline axles
D&D T56
Denny's nitrous read driveshaft
Rear Bogart rims w/ Hoosier QTPs
New street twin clutch from McLeod
That's just a quick summary. I have a plethora of other stuff, too. I'm pretty sure I'm going to do this, so I'll compile a list and post it up.

Let me know what you might be interested in. I'm still back and forth on what I'm doing, so the parts availability might be much less. If I keep the car, the rear bogarts and slicks will still be available along w/ the k-member and front lower a-arms.
Steve I know exactly what you are thinking and feeling! I know what its like with a new house, little ones playing in the back yard and a car sitting in the garage cause I am out back with the kid. When I am not out back I am working to pay for the house. I only bought the house to give the kid a better life. Honestly I dont need the house...
My car had a fully built motor and trans back in it when Sam was born. Its been 15 months and I still have not taken it out even once.
I have thought many times about selling it and going out to buy a 00-02 TA drop top, in bright Red with a ram air hood... oh and did I mention the drop top
!! I would be able to enjoy the car on the street eveny weekend!
But in the end I decided to stick with what I had. I made a decision to not forget about it just chip away at all the little things that need to be done. Its now a breather and an alignment away for a track run. Now finding the time for the track is another story altogether!
I also thought that keeping the car would be a good way for Sam and I to bond as father and son in the future.... even if its not this car he will rememeber it and we can have fun with the next one.
If you do decide to sell it all nobody, (especially me) will fault you. Its your call but make sure you are ready to do that. I have a good friend who sold his nova and now he regrets it.
BTW, is all the suspension stuff adjustable? Rod ends and what not? I could use a PHB and some LCA's

Well, after some reconsideration I've decided to keep the car and just put it together w/ the parts that I have. I was allowing myself to get pulled into wanting to be way faster than what I needed to be. I'll be selling my hardcore race parts that I don't feel I need at the moment.
Sorry, I am keeping it.
Brian,
I hear you 100%. I've gone through this cycle before. I put the car back together bone stock and was going to sell it, but couldn't bring myself to sell it.
We bought this house to raise our family. Looking back, I think it was a mistake, but we're in it now and we do love it.
The aggrevating part of the situation is that I've owned this car 10 years and it's spent more time apart than together. Looking back I just could never seem to get it together like I wanted it. Whether it was time, money or physical problems, it was always apart. I just want it together and to be able to run.
As far as the suspension stuff, I'll be selling the Hal QA1 front shocks, springs and rear shocks w/ spanner wrench. I also be selling my BMR drag rear sway bar and my front lower a-arms. The Griffin radiator is also for sale. The Hoosier QTPs 27x11.50x15 w/ tubes are also for sale. I know that is a very condensed list, but it's what I need to do.
Later,
Steve.
