return of the east coast nats in 2005????

hey gang,
i am seriously considering getting back into this thing, jsut not with e-town. i am lookin more towards the 2005 season for the full event, but there i am going to be working on somethign this year hopefully to lay a little ground work for next year
what i woudl liek to know is if you guys are interested in a similar event if it is held at a different facility in jersey?
i plan to keep the drag classes basically the same, slick bracket, drag radial bracket, true radial bracket, V6 bracket, and some form of heads up.
car show will prolly also be similar with one class for each gen and a best of show. all based on public voting.
i woudl also be working on getting at least 1 chassis dyno there as well as the normal assortment of vendors.
one major addition that fell through in teh past woudl be to try to get an autocross at the event, but that is a big undertaking on it's own, so i won't promise it.
anyone think the event has a shot at a return? anyone got any suggestions that will help expand the idea?

thanks guys
tim

hehe, i will definately let you know what you can do to help.
the first thing i am gonan do is see if maybe atco and island and maybe another track will let me have a couple of lanes to run on a day that they don't have much else goin on.
if i can get some good turn outs and good video/pics to show ow well things have gone at teh smaller shows i can definately get teh backing to do a larger show next summer.
support is important because this time i am actually going into this having to rent the track. that is gonna be a lot fo cash.
i think if we get started soon on it everything will come off without a hitch.

thanks
tim

after the fiasco that ensued a year ago I would be hard pressed to put any faith in this event.

No offense, I don't know the whole story, but if my name was on an event and some things didn't play out the way I planned I wouldn't have disappeared off the face of the earth and left everyone wondering what was going on.

If I were you I wouldn't put too much on my plate in case stuff started falling apart again. Go small your first year and build off that the following year. PROVE to people you are serious and your not gonna run away if things get tough again.

Like I said I was pissed last year and am a little leary of any event that may hold the same title and run by the same people. Speaking of which I'd hire some NEW PR people this way it shows you are trying to change as well.

Just some friendly suggestions and if you need any help I have been involved in setting up AIS in MD for the past 3 years maybe I can give you some info to help along the way if needed.

Tim did this event for 2 years with little or no help from etown the 3rd year they gave him no help and there were other things involved im sure he'll chime in soon.

haha this is funny because tim WAS the PR he was the person doing all the leg work all along....not to say he didnt get some help from people(thanks to those that did help) but he was the creator of the event and did a ****load of stuff on his own dime. He didnt make a cent off of the event and didnt ask for any it wasnt a "rent the track" type day he did what he could to put an event together for fbody enthusiests. It turned out there were just few people willing to help as much as they couldve to make this event great. In closing I'd like to say Tim is good people he meant no harm to anyone that wanted the event to continue, sometimes you run into issues that are uncontrolable.

i didn't jsut leave and not say anything, when i got out fo the event i gave the track and everyone else nearly 3full months of notice. what ended up happening was taht the track ignored me and try to hold the event anyway.
i basically put up with 3 years of lies and being ignored by the track before i left. another major factor for the 3rd year of teh event is that i was truely on my own wiht it. miriah had been helping me, but her schedule became too busy to be involved.
there is no hiring of anyoen, the event was run for free. the only overhead i had was phone calls and a ton of time that i spent on it.
the faith you choose to put into an event is entirely up to you, if you were at teh first 2 years of the event i am sure you can remeber hwo much fun we all had and how well everything went on the surface. jsut remeber, things are not always as peachy as they seem on the surface.
i will never speak poorly of the englishtown facility or the ground level crew, they do a great job at a great track. i will say taht if you plan to run an event, unless you have a dozen or more people to help you, your best bet is to look someplace else because management does not seem to care at all.
the guys on this board and several others can vouch for how much work i put into these events, and you will never find anyone more disappointed than me about how the last one turned out. i have and will continue to apologize for how ****ty things turned out in '03 to anyone who went and was disappointed or wanted to attend before teh event went under.
the brite side is that i remeber how much fun the good times were and i want to do it again. this time i am taking a more professional approach to things and it will be the best event i can possibly achieve in the free time tha ti have.

teh summary version of what happened is that the track failed to follow through on about a dozen "i promise" items for the third year in a row and then spent a few months not answering phone calls. i called then to tell them i coudln't work under those conditions anymore and they didn't even think it was important enough to patch me through to anyone to talk to. i ended up leaving prolly 4 messages sayin that i was bailing out and never got a response. this was all in early may.
then the night before the event was originally scheduled i was out with soem friends and received a voice mail that they wanted me to stop by and approve teh gate card for the event. i was like WTF?!?!!?!?!?!?
i tried to get in touch with people to see what was up, turns out they got about a dozen cars to show up.
i really am sorry to any of you who made the drive and were disappointed. i will make it up to you in the future by putting on better events than i ever coudl have at e-town.
