I am officially unemployed.

Writting has been on the wall for a year. I was given my 60 day layoff notice. My "official" last day will be April 9th. Any job leads in the Information Services field (Novell or Microsoft Network Administration) would be greatly appriciated. Looks like I'll have a lot of free time this summer to race.

I'm sorry Jim. That really stinks. I'll keep my ears open for leads though. Are they offering any kind of package?

Thanks Jax. I will get continued pay and benifits for just under 9 months starting on my exit date. We're ok for a while but these are hard times to be job hunting. Linda works for the same company and things don't look promising in her department either.

Sorry to hear that Kaz,

How are your network skills, and how far are you willing to travel. We have a large complex in Marlton NJ.

Do you have security clearance?

Resume sent to you. No security clearances. I remember back in the late 80's I had to make a service call to GE. They scheduled me in at a certain time due to me not having any security clearances. I was greeted by a Colonel and escorted by a Marine (with no sense of humor) down down down down an elevator and entered a floor totally evacuated and with warning bells and red lights flashing. I worked on the pc with my escort standing directly behind me. "Sir keep your eyes directly on your work" Wow what a flashback lol

who do you work for CSC? I live in Marlton and that's the only IS company with a large complex around here that I know of.

sorry to hear that Jim, unfortunately you are not alone here... last I checked 1 out of 10 are out of work right now. There are 28 houses in my neighborhood and that equal 4-5 people in my little court alone that are out of work. They say the economy has begun to recover... I say its debateble.

Fortunatley my field has picked up a great deal again. My office is actually looking to hire a few more techs to help with the work load we can't handle right now.

Forgive my ignorance but what exactly does "information services" mean... I know you work with computers but thats an area I am not up to date on. Willing to travel? My dad works for Lockheed in Moorestown. I can have him check the postings there. They are always hiring down here infact we have about 10 family members between Liz and I that work there.

My brother works there too - he said they just recently announced they're laying off 1000 people.

Jim...
damn dude, sorry to read that news. No promises, but is downtown Philly too far for you? Been working on landing an account down there on a permanent level. Presently handle the Microsoft side for their panic situations. The client also has a novell side. I like to make a bid for the whole thing...

Anyways...I'll keep you in mind if I hear something somewhere.

Phila is a little over an hour on a good traffic day. I perfer to stay out of the city but a job is a job these days. Mind if I email you my resume? I have a Novell background (CNE6) and been working with GroupWise forever. I've spent the past couple of years more in spreadsheets for auditors (SOX) than Console 1 or ARS.

Brian, I do network administration which is setting up computer accounts for employees. As far as travel, Linda is really eager to have me get my own weekdays apartment near my new job. lol.
