Talking Construction begins on the "Garage Mahal"

Well, today is the beginning. The drill crew was here this morning and they drilled the holes for the building. I named the garage... yeah in the title its being called the Garage Mahal ! My friends dad does some painting and art work on the side, I'm going to have him make and official sign to hang in it.

The holes are drilled, the inspector just came by and gave it his blessing. A crew will be here tomorrow to start setting the posts. From what they tell me it should be up and doors installed by Thursday. This is assuming that the weather doesnt interfeer. Looks like rain tomorrow unfortuately. But they will work in light rain. Hopefully if all goes well the floor will be done by the end of this month and I'll start on the electrical end of it. I stopped out to look at lighting... WOW are lights expensive! An 8' flourcent fixture is just over $50 each, not including the bulbs. I need 8 of them . Oh well, its only money!

Damn! These guys dont mess around! I woke up at 7 this morning and looked out the front window. I didt see any trucks so I casually got out of bed and wallked into the family room. To my suprise the crew was already there. They parked their truck in the driveway and by 7:30 they already had the posts set and started pluming them up, and set the skirt board. Its now 9 and they are putting the trusses up. They have another crew in the area that is finishing up a job this morning and they are then heading here. The crew foreman tells me that if the rain hold out long enought that they will be done today! Woo Hoo!. I have a friend who is setting me up with a guy who does concreet, so hopefully the floor and driveway will be done in the next 2 weeks. I'm taking pics of the whloe thing so when its done I will try to post them on my website that I havent even looked at in almost a year, lol.

well, the rain didnt hold out. They stopped working about 9:45 and tried to wait out the rain. Didnt happen so they packed it up around 11 or so. They will be back on Thursday to finish it. For now I have a skeleton in the yard. Poles are up, perlins are set on the sides, trusses are up and they were working on the top perlins when it rained.

Whoa!!!! I came home today and to my suprise I had a 99% complete garage. The guys aparently decided to come finish it today. My neighbor said there was 7-8 guys here around 12:30... I got home a 5:30 to find it almost done. They tried to call me on my cell but I walked off with out it this morning so they couldnt get ahold of me. They left a note, they had a problem with a piece of molding on the rear door, and the they still have to come and adjust the front door. Its all in, but the front door is very hard to pull down, I think they have the spring wound up too tight. They will be back end of next week to put the final touches on it. Hopefully I'll be ready to pour the floor in a week or 2...

Anyone up for a garage party? I just might have to have one when the weather gets warm.

Nice! Now you can pack your new garage full of worthless junk! If you don't have a shed for the yard, I would recommend getting one so you don't pack your garage with junk. So are you gonna dig a deep pit in the garage so you can work underneath the car? That could get dangerous though, I would bet all the empty beer cans would fill up a pit pretty quick. Let us know when it's done and we'll come over for the party.

Yeah I do have a shed out back. I kept that one just for the lawn junk. I dont want to have to climb over my lawn mower to get to my car. The Garage will be for car stuff only.

And sometime in the spring I will have everyone over to check it out. We will throw some burgers on the grill, crack open a few beers and start with the smack talk.
