Unhappy 1994 Z28 vibration

I just had the trans gone over and upgraded took the car out and ran it no problems now it only has 12K miles on it. The problem is now it has a shimmy to it at anything over 100 MPH the only thing I did was added 3pt UMI subframe bolt on, lower control arm and lower control arm relocating brackets. Now I have the vibration could it be the relocating brackets? or the subframe it never had a vibration before, I checked no U joints are bad either anyone else ever have this problem. I am think of taking the relocating brackets off and see if that stops the problem. Any suggestions???

sounds like the classic stock driveshaft vibration.

Most all stock LT1's had a steel driveshaft stock and they were notorious for developing a high speed vibration. Couple things you can do, swap it out for a stock LS1 shaft, have your stock one balanced, or buy aftermarket. Stock LS1 shafts can be found pretty cheap in the FS section (usually less than $100) or go aftermarket. For what it will cost to balance your stocker you can buy a new one.

try that and see how it feels.

yeah the ds vibration thing tends to develop more as you mod it.

Test it out... take the sub frames, control arms and brackets off and see if it goes away. If it does then add 1 item at a time back on until the vibration comes back. If it doesn't go away then they most likely have nothing to do with it.

vibrations don't generally come from items that dont spin/rotate.... relocation brackets should have no cause for a vibration. They may however be transfering some more vibrations to the body because of the poly bushings over stock rubber bushings. But the vibration cause is not the bracket or LCA. The vibration is still there you just are not feeling it as much without them.

I would tend to think it's something that you just changed. As Brian stated neither would give you a vibration just intenstify one that is already there. I do have an LS1 driveshaft for sale for $100 if your interested. I went to a turbo 400 and needed a different drive shaft.

Are the relocation brackets changing your pinion angle?

good point...
they shouldn't be but if there was something wrong they could be causing an increase in vibration.
