YOUR hp gains when going from mail order tuning to dyno tuning

have you built a motor and used a mail order tune as a 'starting point,' and then moved on to dyno tuning it?

if so, what where your dyno tuning gains over the mail order tuning?

i'm asking, because i'm debating whether or not the hefty price of $450 is worth the hp gains when i move from my pcmforless mail order tuning to a custom dyno tune.

Dyno Tuning

I'd like to know as well. Additionally I would like to know how hard it is to find a shop that can dyno tune a 93. In other words burn a chip for you on the spot!

It depends GREATLY on how good your mail order tune is. I only picked up 6 hp over an excellent initial tune. My AF was dead on, so he added some timing. We could have added more timing since it wasn't detonating yet. Bryan and I talked about it and the extra couple HP from going to 37 or 38 degrees (i don't remember exactly) wasn't worth it incase i was ever forced to get 92 octane instead of 93/94, just got some bad gas or something like that.

If you inital tune isn't that good or you have a more exotic setup the gains could be much more to the tune of 10,15 hp over a mail order. I would expect 10.
