Y pipe necessary?

I was looking into buying headers. Anyone have thoughts on dynomax?
How about using headers with a stock Y pipe?
Most of the restriction comes from headers, no? Y pipes have those bad bends, but compared to the headers, there minor.
Any ideas, suggestions.
thanks

Re: Y pipe necessary?

If you are talking LT headers I don't believe the factory y-pipe will fit.

Re: Y pipe necessary?

Actually the factory y-pipe is pretty bad. No sense at all to get headers without a matching Y.....

Re: Y pipe necessary?

Agreed, factory y-pipe is restrictive. You can buy the corresponding y-pipe with your headers or have a custom one fabbed up at an exhaust shop for nearly the same price.
