Xfi 467

Would this cam work with a Vig 3500 and a 3.73? With headers, and some other bolt ons. Stock heads. The specs are as follows:

Comp Cams XFI LT1 Camshaft, 230 / 236, .576 / .570 113 LSA, Strong mid-range and top end power. Headers, exhaust, gears, converter, computer tuning recommended.

Thanks in advance.

Stock heads. Might be a problem. Don't think the stock heads can take the lift.

It will work well with the stall and the gears; however, as already noted it's probably too much cam for bone stock heads.

Well that lift is with 1.6 rockers I believe, with 1.5s which I have I think that the lift comes in at around .540

Other than too much lift does this cam sound pretty matched for my combo? Is there something better out there for me. I have heard about Lloy Elliot cams, any count?

Can't use your stock rocker arms with a cam that has any kind of lift like that. You need to purchase a set of Lloyds heads to be able to purchase a cam from LE. Unless he has changed his policy? Or you can get a custom cam from Bret Bauer who designs the cams for LE. Talk to both, their very helpfull.

Yeah I know about the stock rockers, but my main concern is the retainer to guide clearance. Will a .540 lift cam clear in taht aspect?

.540" has no problem with guide to retainer contact.... and yes gotta get the Cam Only stuff straight from me. XFI 467 is not bad, just hard to control for the RPM you need to turn it to get the most out of it.

That is good to hear. What do you mean by the hard to control statement? Valve float???

Yep, XFI stuff even with light parts and spring pressure is hard to keep stable over 6200rpm, that's why all the RPM ranges in the catalog end in the 6000-6200rpm area. Even with lots of duration.

The XFI's make for a good street cam with those shifting in the low 6000's.
