XE224/230 install parts list...can I get some help?
Originally I wanted to go with an LE1 heads/cam package, but it's looking more and more like I really don't have the coin for that one. So, I've been looking for a cam that will work with stock unported heads and a fairly stockish shift point (~6200) and I decided on the XE224/230. Firstly, am I on the right track with this decision.
Secondly, I have no idea what else I require. I have a great garage and tools out the wazoo and a very knowledgeable mechanic in case I run into problems, but I trust the cz28.com parts knowledge much better than anyone else.
Here's my request then, could you compile two lists for me? One with the highest quality parts (lifters, springs, rockers, pushrods etc) and then one with the budget setup and the prices for both? I can spare some more green if it'll save me a rebuild.
Thanks for the help guys.

First....yes you are the right track. Good choice of cam IMO.
Above black95z0122 put together the good list...
Here is what I did on mine: Motor had 80,000 on it at the time and it was a 1993...so I had hardened pushrods already. I reused the lifters and timing chain gears. I replaced the chain with a new one. I bought the Crane 10308 double spring kit. Has everyting you need for the springs - $149 from Summit. I bought some brand new 1.6sa rr's that someone had for sale out of the Hotcam kit...paid $200 for those. Tune for the cam was $100. Gaskets, oil and filter, coolant, rental of puller, rental of spring comprssor , misc. another $200. That was it for me. Has performed flawless since install. Now....I will say this. If I hadn't just installed a new waterpump and opti and wires six months prior to the cam install...I probably would have done it at that time. With the cost of the cam I had close to a grand in it.

btw if u go with the same springs as me don't buy a vlave spring mic. I baught one and it cost em $70 and i never needed to use it. combo motorsports told me that i don't need to shim those springs and didn't send me any shims. Also u might want to consider not getting the full extreme duty set. the ed set comes with a waterpump drive sprocket which u can't really install unless u get a new bearing for the drive and knock the old one out of the block, and press the new one on. I'm not gonna use mine because i don't feel like breaking something.the old one looks fine with 73xxx on the clock.
