XE 224/230 vs. 230/236, stock bottom end: how does YOUR car perform?
My Comp XE 224/230 is on the way, but I'm still curious as to what kind of numbers everyone has gotten. A search doesn't pull up a whole lot of results.
I know kmook got a little over 400 hp on his 230/236. (If you're reading this, what was your car running at the track while you had it?)
I'm basically looking for dyno #'s, supporting mods, and track times just to get an idea of how the cams stack up against each other.

I dynoed 301rwhp before, so I picked up 50rwhp peak, 70-75rwhp @ 5800rpm, and 90-95rwhp @ 6000rpm.
Im not a big track guy, only been once and that was after i had that setup done. I got like a low 13 on a 2.2 60'
LOL and let a buddy that goes to the track often drive it and he snagged a 12.4@115 2.0 60'

12.4 @ 115... that's pretty fast for that ET. It looks like you had the best performance on that cam before your current setup. It looks like heads really make or break the 230/236. Anybody have numbers for the 224/230?
Ill let you know how it feels on Monday or Tuesday. The cam is in just waiting to get the heads back from the machine shop. Its the XE224/230, stock size valves, full P/P Heads/Intake, MAC shorties, PCMFORLESS programming, Flowmaster, etc in sig. Ill even record a soundclip since Ive only ever found one sound clip of the 224/230 and its in a Fiero so who knows what else the engine has done to it. Let you know track times in aprilish.
Not many people have the XE 224/230 but I think its a flat out better cam for a stock bottom end engine. I hear it puts you in the best powerband shifting and you dont need to go above 6200 rpm. I also hear it just kills the 230/236 in torque.
I ran a 224/236 cam about 3 years ago.. ran a best of a 12.3@114.. And a 12.5@111mph <- in hot weather.
RWHP was around 345 and torque was about that as well.
This was on stock heads too.

I have the XE 230/236 and a set of TEA stage 3 heads going on in the next moth or so. I am just waiting for Comp Cams to get caught up with their R lifter production, if that ever happens. I am looking for 400 RWHP or better with a good tune, which I dont see as a problem.

Started it up on Thursday!! Cam sounds great, so far feels great. Havent loaded the program up yet, its pretty lopey at idle, sounds awesome, hopefully loading the program up wont smooth it out cuz I love it. I havent hammered on it yet, just got the syntetic back in after the 100 miles, should be redlining it this week, ill post back, hopefully Ill have a good sound clip by then.
Now check out this link! It's an XE 224/230, gtp II heads, MAC shorties.
This guy had put down 380rwhp@5700 and 390rwtq from 3500 to 5000 all the way!!
That's fuggin' awesome....
These are the typical dyno numbers w/ this cam btw. Pair it with a 100 shot, and you've got more power you want to handle ever.

isnt that the point
Anyone that is curious about what an XE224/230 112 sounds like on a stock bottom end sounds like, since theres like 2 people on this board with this cam and neither have clips. I have a kind of crappy one up in this thread, it gets the point across though.
